Five University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa tennis student-athletes earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors for their achievements in competition, academics and community service.

For the , seniors Allaire Berl and Sophie Rachor, along with sophomore Makeilah Nepomuceno, received recognition. On the 尘别苍鈥檚 side, sophomore Adriano Dzhenev and senior Timothy Li earned honors for the .

To qualify, student-athletes must compete in at least 75% of their team鈥檚 scheduled matches. All Academic All-District honorees are eligible for consideration for the CSC Academic All-America teams, which will be announced in June.

Berl, an interdisciplinary studies major and 糖心Vlog官方 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee president, earned Dean鈥檚 List honors throughout her 糖心Vlog官方 Mānoa career and contributed extensively to community service initiatives. Rachor, pursuing a master鈥檚 degree in finance, also earned All-Big West doubles honors during her lone season at 糖心Vlog官方 Mānoa. Nepomuceno, a travel industry management major, earned All-Big West honors in singles and doubles while posting one of the top GPAs on the wo尘别苍鈥檚 team.

For the Rainbow Warriors, Dzhenev earned All-Big West honorable mention recognition in doubles and was named Big West Player of the Week in April. Li, who is pursuing a master鈥檚 degree in natural resource environmental management, also earned All-Big West honorable mention honors in singles and contributed to several community-based environmental and agricultural projects across Oʻahu.

Nine players from the University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa tennis team were recognized by the Big West Conference, with four Rainbow Wahine and five Rainbow Warriors earning all-conference honors.

Rainbow Wahine

糖心Vlog官方‘s No. 1 (Grete Gull/Sophie Rachor) and No. 2 (Hannah Galindo/Makeilah Nepomuceno) doubles teams were named to the All-Big West Second Team, while Gull and Nepomuceno earned honorable mention accolades in singles.

Gull and Rachor finished the season with an even 8-8 dual-match record and Galindo and Nepomuceno compiled a 10-7 overall record, including a strong 6-3 mark in conference play.

In singles, Gull competed at the No. 1 spot for the duration of the season and posted two conference victories.

Nepomuceno, competing at the No. 2 spot, posted a 6-10 overall record and a 5-4 mark in conference action.

Rainbow Warriors

Azuma Visaya earned all-first team honors in both singles and doubles with partner Toa Maeda, while Timothy Li (singles), and doubles partners Adriano Dzhenev and Kent Mueller all earned honorable mention honors.

Visaya anchored the Rainbow Warriors at the No. 1 singles position throughout the season and led the team with nine dual-match singles victories.

Visaya and partner Maeda won their last four straight matches to finish the season with an overall record of 10-6.

Li went 5-9 overall and 1-2 in conference for the Rainbow Warriors.

Dzhenev and Mueller played primarily at the No. 3 doubles position and recorded a strong 9-4 overall record and a 3-1 mark in conference play.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa player Adriano Dzhenev was named the Big West Player of the Week after a strong showing against UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly.

This marks Dzhenev鈥檚 first conference weekly honor and the third for Rainbow Warrior tennis this season.

In doubles action, Dzhenev and partner Kent Mueller clinched the doubles point against UC Santa Barbara on March 26. The pair then played at the No. 2 spot for the first time this season against Cal Poly on March 28. Dzhenev and Mueller were leading 6鈥�5 when the doubles point was clinched elsewhere, leaving their match unfinished but in a winning position.

The Rainbow Warriors will face UC Davis on April 10 at 糖心Vlog官方 Tennis Complex.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa wo尘别苍鈥檚 tennis player Grete Gull was named Big West Player of the Week. Gull was the lone Rainbow Wahine to win both her singles and doubles matches as the Rainbow Wahine defeated Long Beach State, 5鈥�2 on February 28.

This marks the first career weekly conference award for Gull, and the first for Rainbow Wahine tennis this season. Gull plays both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles with partner Sophie Rachor. Gull won her singles match over Cecilia Costa in three sets, propelling the 鈥楤ows to a win over Long Beach State.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa tennis player Timothy Li earned Big West Player of the Week honors after going 2-0 in both singles and doubles in three road matches. This is Li鈥檚 first career weekly award.

In 糖心Vlog官方 M膩noa鈥檚 Big West opener at UC Riverside, Li defeated Ivaylo Simeonov in straight sets on the No. 2 singles court. At Northern Arizona, Li paired with Kosuke Nakanishi to earn a 6-0 decision against Vincent Vohl and Takumi Katsuda in No. 1 doubles.

In a battle at Grand Canyon, Li and Nakanishi took down Daniel Jankoski and Brice Patoux in a tiebreaker in No. 1 doubles. Li also got the win in No. 2 singles in straight sets over Andreas Loizas.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa player Azuma Visaya earned the first Big West Player of the Week award for 2026. The recognition marks Visaya’s fourth career weekly conference honor.

The Rainbow Warrior recorded a 2鈥�1 record on the No. 1 singles court while going 1鈥�2 in No. 2 doubles. Visaya opened the season against 15th-ranked UC Berkeley by edging out Fryderyk Lechno-Wasiutynski in a third-set super tie-breaker. With the match tied at a set apiece and the team match already in hand, Visaya jumped out to a 5鈥�0 lead in the super tie-breaker and traded points down the stretch to win 10鈥�5.

In 糖心Vlog官方 M膩noa鈥檚 second match of the season, Visaya defeated Gonzaga’s Giovanni Branchetti in straight sets, 6鈥�1, 6鈥�4.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced both University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and teams as ITA All-Academic Teams for the 2024–25 school year. Both Vulcans teams finished the spring semester with team grade point averages (GPAs) of at least 3.20.

Additionally, eight 糖心Vlog官方 Hilo tennis players earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition for achieving a 2024–25 GPA of at least 3.50.

The University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa had four earn All-Big West honors. Ana Vilcek earned All-Big West first team honors in singles and honorable mention with doubles partner Nikola Homolkova. Peppi Ramstedt was selected as an honorable mention recipient in both singles and doubles with partner Sheena Masuda.

Vilcek, a four-year starter, earned All-Big West honors for the fourth-consecutive season. This is her second-straight season being voted to the All-Big West First Team. She finished with a team-best 11-3 dual match record.

Vilcek and Homolkova paired together for all but one doubles match this season. They posted a 7-7 record this season. It is the fourth-straight season that Homolkova has earned All-Big West honors.

The duo of Ramstedt and Masuda recorded a team-best 9-6 record in doubles playing the last 15 matches at No. 1. Ramstedt and Masuda won four of their last six decisions. For Masuda, it is the third time earning All-Big West doubles honors.

Ramstedt finished with an 8-9 record for the season and was named Big West Player of the Week for the second time. This is the first time Ramstedt has earned Big West honors in singles.

Two University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Vulcans were named to the 2025 All-PacWest Teams, which were announced on April 16 at the annual Pacific West Conference Championships banquet.

糖心Vlog官方 Hilo redshirt-sophomore Jaime Paquet was selected as Newcomer of the Year and the All-PacWest Singles First Team after going 14-3. At one point in the season, Paquet had claimed 12 consecutive victories, including a three-set win over PacWest Player of the Year Elias Emilio Walter of Azusa Pacific.

Paquet joined the Vulcans in fall 2023 but was sidelined for all of the 2024 season. He is currently ranked No. 42 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Collegiate Rankings.

On the , fifth-year senior McKenna Mountain (11-6) was voted to the All-PacWest Singles Team. Mountain was previously selected to the All-PacWest Third Team in 2023.

Mountain started the season on a five match win streak and later appeared at No. 41 in the ITA Rankings.

University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo tennis players Jaime Paquet and McKenna Mountain continue to earn recognition as they placed among the top 75 singles ranking released by Intercollegiate Tennis Association earlier this week.

Paquet of the 尘别苍鈥檚 team and Mountain of the wo尘别苍鈥檚 team have predominantly spent their singles matches playing on court 1, posting overall records of 14-3 and 11-6, respectively.

Paquet moved up seven spots to No. 44 in the latest poll. Mountain re-entered the rankings at No. 70.

Both Vulcans teams finished their regular season last weekend and will head to Arizona for the PacWest Championships.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa player Ana Vilcek earned her third career Big West Player of the Week honor after going 2-0 against No. 51 Cal Poly and No. 50 University of California, Santa Barbara.
Vilcek鈥檚 week was highlighted by recording the biggest upset of her four-year 糖心Vlog官方 career鈥攄efeating University of California, Santa Barbara鈥檚 10th-ranked player in the nation on March 29.

In singles action, Vilcek opened the week on Wednesday, March 26 by nearly shutting out 50th-ranked Cal Poly鈥檚 Kennedy Buntrock, 6-1, 6-0.

On Hawaiʻi鈥檚 Senior Day vs. UC Santa Barbara, Vilcek, 糖心Vlog官方鈥檚 lone four-year senior, came through with the biggest win of her career, upending 10th-ranked Amelia Honer in a hard fought match that ended in a third set, super tie-breaker, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8). Vilcek snapped Honer鈥檚 five-match win streak.

University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo player Jaime Paquet repeated as Pacific West Conference Player of the Week after continuing his winning ways with a 5-0 week in singles.

The sophomore now holds a 11-2 record in singles matches.

Paquet started the week with a three-set victory over Azusa Pacific’s Elias Emilio Walter. He also won matches against Biola, Menlo, Fresno Pacific and Jessup, and posted a 3-2 record in doubles.

University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo player Jaime Paquet was named PacWest Conference Player of the Week after posting a 3-0 singles record.

Paquet has posted a 6-2 record this season, including four consecutive wins against No. 27 Colorado Mesa (twice), Point Loma, and No. 36 Concordia. During a recent Southern California trip, he defeated Concordia’s Spencer Cinco (6-7, 6-4, 6-1) and Point Loma’s Niclas Goltz (6-1, 7-6).

Paquet also won back-to-back matches against Colorado Mesa and is 3-1 in three-set matches this season.

Two University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa tennis players Peppi Ramstedt and Azuma Visaya earned Big West Player of the Week honors, with Peppi Ramstedt earning her first Big West Player of the Week as a Rainbow Wahine on February 5 and Visaya securing his third.

Randstadt defeated Saint Mary (6-4, 6-1) and North Dakota’s (6-3, 6-1) top players, while pairing with Sheena Masuda for two 6-1 double victories.

Visaya鈥檚 clutch three-set win clinched 糖心Vlog官方鈥檚 first dual match victory under head coach Hendrik Bode. With the match against North Dakota tied 3-3, he edged out his opponent in a tiebreaker (6-2, 5-7, 7-6(4)) for his fourth straight singles win. He also helped secure the doubles point with a 6-4 win.

Visaya is now 5-3 in singles and 2-3 in doubles, recently climbing to No. 48 in the ITA rankings.

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa player Azuma Visaya has earned his second-straight Big West Player of the Week award after winning a pair of No. 1 singles matches in two dual matches against Arkansas.

Visaya, ranked No. 77, won both matches in third-set super tie-breakers. In the first match, he came back from a set down to beat Bozo Barun, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9). In the second, he defeated Lukas Palovic after losing the first set, winning 2-6, 7-6 (8-6), 1-0 (10-7).

Visaya is 3-3 in singles this season.

The is joining the Mountain West Conference as a full member effective July 1, 2026. Travel subsidies for conference opponents will be phased out as part of the new membership and the exit fee from the Big West Conference will be covered. Since 2012, 糖心Vlog官方 has been competing in the Mountain West in football and in the Big West for most of its other 尘别苍鈥檚 and wo尘别苍鈥檚 sports teams.

“The University of Hawaiʻi is honored to accept full membership in the Mountain West Conference, marking a pivotal moment in our athletic program’s history.” said 糖心Vlog官方 President David Lassner. “While we are sad to leave so many amazing colleagues and competitors in the Big West, this expanded partnership will build on our strong football relationship and securely position us to thrive with our Mountain West colleagues in the incredibly dynamic landscape of intercollegiate athletics. The move will also help strengthen our overall finances.”

The addition of 糖心Vlog官方 as a full member of the conference gives the Mountain West eight full-time members, meeting the NCAA minimum requirement to be a Division I conference. The move comes after five schools announced in September that they are leaving the conference in 2026 and the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) accepted an offer to join the Mountain West. The conference announced on September 26 that remaining schools signed a memorandum of understanding, affirming their current commitment to the conference and formally agreeing to negotiating and executing a six year media rights contract that would begin in July 2026.

“We are thrilled to welcome the University of Hawaiʻi to the Mountain West as a full-time member,” said MW Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. “Hawaiʻi has been a tremendous football-only member since 2012, and we鈥檙e excited to add their incredible national brand across all MW sports. Beginning with the 2026–27 seasons, Hawaiʻi will compete in 15 conference-sponsored sports in the Mountain West. Women’s sports include basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track & field, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis and volleyball. Men’s sports include basketball, baseball, football, golf, and tennis. The Mountain West does not sponsor beach volleyball, men’s volleyball, men’s swimming & diving, and women’s water polo. A formal decision on where those 糖心Vlog官方 teams will compete will be determined in the coming months. 糖心Vlog官方鈥檚 co-ed and wo尘别苍鈥檚 sailing teams will continue their affiliation with the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference.

State leaders say they support the conference realignment.

Josh Green. “We are optimistic about moving forward with the MWC as it is a conference that we are familiar with, and will position 糖心Vlog官方 athletics well moving forward.”

“As a proud University of Hawaiʻi alum, former player and coach, I have a deep connection to this institution and its future,” said Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi. “While I respect the decision to remain in the Mountain West Conference, I personally would have liked to see 糖心Vlog官方 explore opportunities with the newly restructured Pac-12. However, I trust that 糖心Vlog官方 leadership has made this decision with the best interests of the university and our community in mind, and I will continue to support them in representing Hawaiʻi with pride and strength.”

糖心Vlog官方 M膩noa is the only Division I athletics program in Hawaiʻi with approximately 500 student-athletes on 22 teams. The school became a member of the NCAA in 1946 and joined its first major intercollegiate conference in 1979. 糖心Vlog官方 boasts six team national championships and 11 individual national champions in its history.

The other Mountain West Conference members as of July 2026 will be the United States Air Force Academy; University of Nevada, Reno; University of New Mexico; San José State University; University of Nevada, Las Vegas; the University of Wyoming; and UTEP.

Three University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa tennis players will compete in the 2024 Intercollegiate Tennis Association鈥檚 (ITA) All-American Championships, September 21–29. players Ana Vilcek and Nikola Homolkova, and player Azuma Visaya are set to represent 糖心Vlog官方 Mānoa.

Homolkova and Vilcek will travel to Cary, North Carolina to compete at the Cary Tennis Park. Vilcek will kick-off the tourney in the Pre-Qualifying Round of 128 on September 21, while Homolkova will begin play in the Qualifying Round of 64 on September 22. Both players will also participate in the Pre-Qualifying Round of 32 on September 22.

This is the first time since 2019 that the Rainbow Wahine will compete in the ITA All-American Championships.

Visaya will make his Rainbow Warrior debut traveling to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to compete at the University of Tulsa鈥檚 Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The junior will start the competition in the Pre-Qualifying Round of 128.

A total of 73 earned academic All-Big West honors for spring sports during the 2024 season. The sports included are baseball, beach volleyball, men’s golf, women’s golf, softball, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, women’s track and field, men’s volleyball and women’s water polo.

The track and field team had the most honorees with 18 followed by softball (13), baseball (12) and water polo (10).

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, student athletes must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, complete one full year at the member institution prior to the season and compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests (baseball pitchers are exempt of participation standards, track and field must either compete in 50% or conference championship).

Three University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo tennis student-athletes were named to the Academic All-District Teams on May 14. Luca Matheiowetz and Lamar Bartley were recognized from the team, and Julia Barden from the team.

The award recognizes the nation鈥檚 top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must be sophomore standing or above, have a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade point average and participate in at least 90% of the games during the season.

All three Vulcans are departing student-athletes. Barden and Bartley graduated in the spring with a bachelor鈥檚 in psychology. Matheiowetz will finish in the fall with bachelor鈥檚 degrees in business administration—finance and accounting.
