  • Film: The Codes of Gender: Identity and Performance in Popular Culture, March 17
    Uncovering a remarkable pattern of gender-specific poses, the film explores the late Irving Goffman’s central claim that the way the body is displayed in advertising communicates normative ideas about masculinity and femininity.
  • Talk with Kaleo Tevaitea Tanoa Ramos, March 17
    Kaleo Ramos is a licensed special education teacher and LGBTQIA activist from 碍ā苍别ʻ辞丑别. Since 2007 Ramos has served as an active part of Hawaiʻi’s LGBTQIA community, earning pageant titles and has been a liaison for a number of organizations.

  • Symposium: Poetry Scores Hawaiʻi-LOOK LIKE WHAT IT MEANS, March 11–12
    Jan Castro is at 糖心Vlog官方 Hilo as a scholar-in-residence, March 2–13, 2015, at the 糖心Vlog官方 Hilo Department of Art. She will moderate a two-day symposium, “Poetry Scores Hawaiʻi – LOOK LIKE WHAT IT MEANS,” hosted at 糖心Vlog官方 Hilo.
  • Performances by Jamaica Heolimeleikalani Osorio, March 13
    Kanaka maoli wahine poet, activist, and scholar Osorio will give two presentations—No Seed Left Unturned: Composing for a new generation of Kanaka Maoli and Mele ʻAi Pōhaku: Hawaiian Creativity and Resistance.
