This talk story-style conference invites conversations about the relationship between Pidgin and Hawaiian in the Hawaiian language classroom and in the community. Many teachers and students of 脢禄脜艗lelo Hawai脢禄i already make regular use of Pidgin in the classroom. Residents of the state often comment on the similarities between Pidgin and Hawaiian grammar. Many others note a connection between speaking Pidgin and the expression of identity that is rooted in Hawai脢禄i. Teachers, scholars, and community members interested in the relationships between 脢禄脜艗lelo Hawai脢禄i and 脢禄脜艗lelo Pa脢禄i脢禄ai (Pidgin) are invited to this Summit.
