Over the past year, <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\u2019s\">O&#699;ahu\u2019s<\/span> efforts to increase <abbr title=\"science, technology, engineering and mathematics\">STEM<\/abbr> activities included new degree offerings, obtaining a $638,100 grant to create a program for veterans in <abbr title=\"science, technology, engineering and mathematics\">STEM<\/abbr>, and the formation of a campus chapter of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sacnas.org\/\">Society for Advancement of Chicano\/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We believe that our efforts will have a positive impact on Native Hawaiian student success,&rdquo; said <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> Chancellor <strong>Maenette Benham<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The award will provide <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> with funding to increase the number of students enrolled in <abbr title=\"science, technology, engineering and mathematics\">STEM<\/abbr> programming and remove barriers that students may face in pursuing <abbr title=\"science, technology, engineering and mathematics\">STEM<\/abbr> degrees. This will also support the development of innovative <abbr title=\"science, technology, engineering and mathematics\">STEM<\/abbr> courses that will be designed to more fully engage students and foster knowledge and skills required in today\u2019s <abbr title=\"science, technology, engineering and mathematics\">STEM<\/abbr> workforce.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;<span aria-label=\"Pukoa\">P&#363;ko&#699;a<\/span> Kani <span aria-label=\"Aina\">&#699;&#256;ina<\/span>, led by (professors) <strong>Kamuela Yong<\/strong> and <strong>Megan Ross<\/strong>, will strengthen our <abbr title=\"science, technology, engineering and mathematics\">STEM<\/abbr> programs offered at <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> and establish <abbr title=\"science, technology, engineering and mathematics\">STEM<\/abbr> pathways from our K&#8211;12 public schools to university as well as transfer opportunities from our community colleges to a four-year bachelor\u2019s degree,&rdquo; said Benham.<\/p>\n<p>The grant, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hirono.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/senator-hirono-announces-nearly-25-million-in-funding-to-the-uh-west-oahu\">announced by <abbr title=\"United States\">U.S.<\/abbr> Sen. Mazie K.
