Being a former student-athlete himself, Gutzat was inspired to tell a story from the perspective of student-athletes.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_95794\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-95794\" style=\"width: 214px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/manoa-jonas-gutzat-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"student smiling\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-95794\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/manoa-jonas-gutzat-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/manoa-jonas-gutzat-93x130.jpg 93w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/manoa-jonas-gutzat.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 214px) 100vw, 214px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-95794\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jonas Gutzat<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&ldquo;I had the idea when I was flying back to Germany over winter break,&rdquo; said Gutzat. &ldquo;I was inspired to try and humanize athletes more and, having been an athlete myself, I wrote it from the perspective of athletes.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Division <abbr title=\"Roman numeral one\">I<\/abbr> <abbr>NCAA<\/abbr> institutions were invited to create a video showcasing a &ldquo;day in the life&rdquo; to display what it means to be a student-athlete and how each day looks different. <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M&#257;noa athletics won a $2,000 award for Gutzat\u2019s video that will be used to support campus <abbr>SAAC<\/abbr> operations and activities.<\/p>\n<p>Gutzat hopes that people who watch the video will catch a glimpse of the hard work that is behind the scenes of every student-athlete.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think that for most athletes, people only see when they play and when they win,&rdquo; said Gutzat. &ldquo;But they don\u2019t see behind the scenes, working hard every day, suffering, pain, overcoming obstacles and everything.
