The University of Hawaiʻi<\/span>–West Oʻahu<\/span><\/a> bookstore declared Rachel Lugo<\/strong>, an Academy for Creative Media student, as the winner of the “West is Best” T-shirt contest. Her kapa-like design curling around the campus logo and the words “West is Best” received the most votes in the bookstore\u2019s online competition.<\/p>\n

Lugo won a $100 gift card and a T-shirt with her design.<\/p>\n

“I really enjoyed creating this design,” Lugo said. “I really wanted to incorporate culture after taking inspiration from it. I settled on the idea of creating an original piece of Polynesian tribal art that would best represent ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½<\/abbr> West Oʻahu.”<\/span><\/p>\n

T-shirts with Lugo\u2019s design are on sale at the bookstore<\/a> at a discounted price of $10 (first shirt only) for students with valid student ID<\/abbr>. The shirts normally sell for $14.95.<\/p>\n
