Catch Merrie Monarch award-winner Chinky Mahoe and multiple N\u0101 H\u014dk\u016b Hanohano winners Keauhou, Maunalua, Hiʻikua<\/span> and Pomaikaʻi<\/span> Keawe Lyman at the 18th Annual Windward Hoʻolauleʻa<\/span> on the Great Lawn at Windward Community College<\/a> on Saturday, September 29, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Also in the entertainment line-up are Beat-Lele, an ʻukulele<\/span> tribute to the Beatles and the Kahaluʻu<\/span> Elementary School ʻUkulele<\/span> Band and more local area talent.<\/p>\n

The free, family-friendly, festival coordinated by Windward CC<\/abbr> and the Kaneohe Business Group, is expected to draw more than 10,000 people. It will feature unique arts and crafts, ʻono<\/span> ethnic foods, hot rods by Clyde\u2019s Auto Showcase, keiki rides and activities, a gallery exhibit, an Imaginarium show, a college-sponsored silent auction, and educational, cultural demonstrations and community displays. This year\u2019s theme is “Hawaiian Traditions.”<\/p>\n

“Windward Hoʻolauleʻa<\/span> is THE homegrown celebration that brings people together on our beautiful campus…with a full day of amazing island entertainment,” said event chair Bonnie Beatson<\/strong>. “We\u2019re very grateful for the tremendous community support of this event highlighting the talent and businesses of the Windward side as well as the educational opportunities at Windward CC<\/abbr>. This support is good for our community—Windward CC<\/abbr> students will receive scholarships from event proceeds.”<\/p>\n

Supporting the event are flagship sponsors Kamehameha Schools, Hawaiian Electric Companies, HD&C<\/abbr> Hawaiʻi<\/span> (formerly Ameron Hawaii) and GoKailua Magazine. More sponsors include Walgreens, Castle Adventist Health, Enterprise Rent-a-Car Hawaii, Hawaiian Memorial Park, First Hawaiian Bank, Bank of Hawaii, Central Pacific Bank and Territorial Savings Bank, with support from the Castle Alumni and Community Association.<\/p>\n
