It was fantastic,&rdquo; said Rieman. &ldquo;It\u2019s money I didn\u2019t have to worry about paying back, and it covered my travel expenses here, which&#8230;is kind of really high.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Big Island native <strong>Kelley Caitano<\/strong>, who is studying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.honolulu.hawaii.edu\/cent\">Computer Electronics and Networking Technologies<\/a> at Honolulu <abbr>CC<\/abbr>, was also a <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Promise beneficiary.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;My <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Promise award was $1,400, $700 each semester, and for each semester I used it for mostly food and whatever extra expenses I needed. My books were kind of expensive, so I ended up buying books or tools that I needed (in order) to take apart or repair laptops or computers,&rdquo; Caitano said.<\/p>\n<p>With more funding for the \u201clast dollar\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2018\/06\/01\/new-law-expands-hawaii-promise-scholarships\/\"><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Promise scholarships available at the seven <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> community college campuses statewide for the 2018&#8211;19 academic year<\/a>, Rieman and Caitano encourage prospective students to apply to a <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> community college and fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (<abbr>FAFSA<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n<p>Said Rieman, &ldquo;It was awesome.
