Richardson School of Law<\/a> at the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> at M\u0101noa, offers the popular Nite of the Living Will in the school&#8217;s Moot Courtroom on Halloween, October 31, 3 p.m. The event will focus on end of life medical treatment, decision-making and advance care planning. The Nite of the Living Will is particularly aimed at kupuna, family caregivers and service providers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To save a seat, call (808) 956-6544 or email <a href=\"mailto:uhelp.edu@gmail.com\">uhelp.edu@gmail.com<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&ldquo;This will help you communicate your wishes for end of life care,&rdquo; said Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.hawaii.edu\/personnel\/pietsch\/james\"><strong>James Pietsch<\/strong><\/a>, director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/uhelp\/\"><abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Elder Law Program<\/a> (糖心Vlog官方ELP).<\/p>\n<p>Topics covered during the Nite of the Living Will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Informed consent\/informed refusal<\/li>\n<li>Surrogate decision-making<\/li>\n<li>Advance directives, including individual instructions for healthcare and durable powers of attorney for healthcare, plus comfort care only<\/li>\n<li>DNR bracelets\/necklaces<\/li>\n<li>provider orders for life-sustaining treatment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also available that afternoon is a publication produced by <abbr>糖心Vlog官方ELP<\/abbr>, <em>Deciding What\u2019s Next and Trying to Remember<\/em>, a legal handbook for <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2019s older persons, families and caregivers. The handbook was published as a partnership between <abbr>糖心Vlog官方ELP<\/abbr> and the City and County of Honolulu Elderly Affairs Division with funding from the U.S. Administration on Aging. <em>Deciding What\u2019s Next and Trying to Remember<\/em> was written and compiled by Pietsch and <abbr>糖心Vlog官方ELP<\/abbr> Administrative Director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.hawaii.edu\/personnel\/lee\/lenora\"><strong>Lenora Lee<\/strong><\/a>. The handbooks are also available at the 糖心Vlog官方 law school administration front desk at 2515 Dole St.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty and students are welcome to Nite of the Living Will.
