The gala event recognized Shoji&#8217;s 42-year career of sustained excellence, which was highlighted by four national championships, nine <abbr title=\"National Collegiate Athletic Association\">NCAA<\/abbr> Final Four appearances, 41 national tournament appearances and 25 conference crowns.<\/p>\n<p>More than 1,500 people and more than 60 alumnae and current players, whose careers spanned all of his 42 seasons at <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr>, came to help honor the iconic coach. Former Rainbow Wahine libero <strong>Ashley Watanabe<\/strong> (2002&#8211;05) started the evening off by singing the National Anthem and <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> <span aria=label=\"Ponoi\">Pono&#699;i<\/span> then former <abbr title=\"television station call letters\">KGMB<\/abbr> sports anchor and <abbr title=\"Entertainment and Sports Programming Network\">ESPN<\/abbr> SportsCenter host Larry Beil served as the emcee for the evening&#8217;s program which started with video messages from Gov. David Ige, <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> President and Interim M&#257;noa Chancellor <strong>David Lassner<\/strong> and <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Athletics Director <strong>David Matlin<\/strong>.
