The more engaged students are, the more likely they are to succeed.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>During March, the admissions office hosted receptions in California, Oregon, Washington and Colorado, and in April there will be receptions on Maui, <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Island, <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> and <span aria-label=\"Kauai\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p>The first of two <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> accepted student receptions was held April 19 with nearly 350 students and their families in attendance. The reception featured a resource fair of services essential to first-year success, breakout sessions on enrollment next steps and an opportunity for the students to meet their future classmates. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related<\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2017\/04\/21\/first-year-programs\/\">First Year Programs help <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M&#257;noa freshmen transition smoothly into college life<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Related<\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2017\/04\/12\/star-gps-registration-app\/\">New registration app guides students to timely graduation<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&ldquo;I felt that the reception was informative, especially the resource fair, which gave me the opportunity to talk with representatives in specific areas that I am interested in,&rdquo; said Jonah Bobilin, a senior at Island Pacific Academy. &ldquo;Although I had come to the reception with three classmates from my school, I spent the majority of the time talking with other students that I had never met before.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the receptions, there will also be a final series of high school visits, as well as one-on-one sessions locally, in select cities on the continental U.S. and internationally.
