{"id":56983,"date":"2017-02-28T13:40:53","date_gmt":"2017-02-28T23:40:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/?p=56983"},"modified":"2019-02-28T15:38:51","modified_gmt":"2019-03-01T01:38:51","slug":"uh-press-presents-new-open-access-content","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2017\/02\/28\/uh-press-presents-new-open-access-content\/","title":{"rendered":"<abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Press presents new open-access content for language scholars"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 2<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes<\/span><\/span><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/manoa-uhpress-jseals.jpg\" alt=\"Journal of the Southeast Asian Linguistics Society cover\" width=\"250\" height=\"359\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-56992\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/manoa-uhpress-jseals.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/manoa-uhpress-jseals-181x260.jpg 181w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Three open-access journals for language scholars will be made available through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uhpress.hawaii.edu\">University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Press, publisher of scholarly journals and books since 1947, will assist in making the content of <a href=\"http:\/\/nflrc.hawaii.edu\/ldc\/?page_id=35\"><em>Language Documentation and Conservation<\/em><\/a> (<abbr title=\"Language Documentation and Conservation\">LD&#38;C<\/abbr>), the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uhpress.hawaii.edu\/t3-journal-of-the-southeast-asian-linguistics-society.aspx\"><em>Journal of the Southeast Asian Linguistics Society<\/em><\/a> (<abbr title=\"Journal of the Southeast Asian Linguistics Society\">JSEALS<\/abbr>) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uhpress.hawaii.edu\/t-palapala.aspx\"><em>Palapala: a journal for Hawaiian language and literature<\/em><\/a> widely accessible online.<\/p>\n<p>Through a long-standing partnership with <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Press, <em>Language Documentation and Conservation<\/em> is <a href=\"http:\/\/nflrc.hawaii.edu\/ldc\/\">exclusively available in electronic format<\/a>. <abbr title=\"Language Documentation and Conservation\">LD&#38;C<\/abbr> is edited by Nicholas Thieberger from the University of Melbourne and sponsored by the <a href=\"http:\/\/nflrc.hawaii.edu\/\">National Foreign Language Resource Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Press assists the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jseals.org\/\">Southeast Asian Linguistics Society<\/a> in the publication of their journal online. Edited by Mark Alves from Montgomery College, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uhpress.hawaii.edu\/t3-journal-of-the-southeast-asian-linguistics-society.aspx\"><abbr title=\"Journal of the Southeast Asian Linguistics Society\">JSEALS<\/abbr><\/a> adds to the language and linguistics journals available from <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Press, which also include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uhpress.hawaii.edu\/t-oceanic-linguistics.aspx\"><em>Oceanic Linguistics<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The first issue of <em>Palapala<\/em> is set to arrive in March 2017. This open-access journal, edited by Jeffrey (Kapali) Lyon at the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M&#257;noa <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/religion\/\">Department of Religion<\/a>, receives support from 糖心Vlog官方 Press and the following departments:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/arthum\/\">College of Arts and Humanities<\/a>, <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M&#257;noa<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/hshk\/\"><span aria-label=\"Hawaiinuiakea\">Hawai&#699;inui\u0101kea<\/span> School of Hawaiian Knowledge<\/a>, <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M&#257;noa<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/llea\/\">College of Languages, Linguistics and Literature<\/a>, <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M&#257;noa<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.olelo.hawaii.edu\/khuok\/\">Ka Haka &#699;Ula O Ke&#699;elik&#333;lani, College of Hawaiian Language<\/a>, <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Hilo<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The editorial boards for all three open-access, peer-reviewed journals include <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> faculty.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are delighted to present such high-quality digital content to the public&#8212;be they students, translators or simply curious readers,&rdquo; said <strong>Pamela Wilson<\/strong>, <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Press journals manager.<\/p>\n<p>The open-access journals join approximately 75 new books and 22 journals <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Press plans to publish in 2017. The press also offers more than 800 titles annually through library e-book vendors.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;<abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Press has a long history of providing educators with language materials for the classroom,&rdquo; said <strong>Joel Cosseboom<\/strong>, <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Press interim director. &ldquo;Through these new open-access journals and our digital hosting platforms, language scholars may access the content from anywhere there is an internet connection.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>More information about the journals, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uhpress.hawaii.edu\/journals\">including journal submission guidelines, is available online<\/a>.
