Burns School of Medicine<\/a> (JABSOM) <a href=\"https:\/\/jabsom.hawaii.edu\/ed-programs\/md-program\/md-curriculum\/visiting-4th-year-students\/surgery\/\">Department of Surgery<\/a> faculty members have opened a new clinic and are taking new patients and referrals. The clinic is located at <a href=\"http:\/\/queensmedicalcenter.org\/\">The Queen&#8217;s Medical Center<\/a>, Physician Office Building <abbr title=\"Roman numeral two\">II<\/abbr>, suite 207. <\/p>\n<p>The clinic provides care for patients in the preoperative, operative and postoperative period for a wide variety of minor and complex problems focusing on advance laparoscopy, <abbr>GERD<\/abbr> (gastroesophageal reflux disease), hernias, complex hernias, biliary diseases including gallbladder and pancreas, thyroid and parathyroid, endocrine tumors, colorectal diseases, colorectal cancer, gastrointestinal tumors, breast diseases and skin lesions.<\/p>\n<p>The surgery clinic is operated by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uhphawaii.org\/\">University Health Partners of Hawai&#8217;i<\/a>, a practice plan made up of faculty of the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> who are also health providers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/surgery.jabsom.hawaii.edu\/faculty\/bio-murayamak\/\">Kenric Murayama<\/a><\/strong>, a surgeon who earned a national reputation of excellence while practicing in Pennsylvania, returned to his alma mater, the John A. Burns School of Medicine, in 2015. He leads an energetic team of surgeons with diverse practice experience at the new clinic.<\/p>\n<p>The surgical team includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Murayama: Minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery with a focus on laparoscopic treatment for benign esophageal disorders, abdominal wall hernias and morbid obesity surgery.<\/li>\n<li>Stacey Woodruff: Surgery, general surgery, laproscopic surgery, thyroid cancer, primary hyperthyroidism, endocrine surgery.<\/li>\n<li>Dean J.
