The exhibition FAX<\/em><\/abbr> is on view now through April 5 at the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at Mānoa Art Gallery<\/a>. The exhibit explores themes of transmission, reproduction and drawing, as a multigenerational group of artists, architects, designers, scientists, filmmakers and writers re-conceive the fax machine as a thinking and drawing tool.<\/p>\n

FAX<\/em> is an evolving exhibition that started in New York in 2009, and has since then continued to be reconfigured, expanded and localized as it is presented around the world.<\/p>\n

Talk by Curator<\/h2>\n

On Monday, March 19, the Mānoa Art Gallery will present a talk by curator Joao Ribas at 6 p.m. Ribas will discuss the project’s historical and conceptual context, the interdisciplinary aspect of the exhibition and some new projects he’s working on. Ribas is curator at the MIT<\/abbr> visual arts center and organizer of the original exhibition of FAX<\/abbr> at the drawing center in New York.<\/p>\n

Gallery Hours<\/h2>\n

Gallery hours are Monday–Friday, 10:30 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sunday, 12–5 p.m. Closed Saturdays and spring break (March 26–30). Admission is free.<\/p>\n
