The concert features shakuhachi, shamisen, vocalist and piano performances. <\/p>\n<h2>Performances by<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Christopher Yohmei Blasdel, shakuhachi<\/strong><br \/>\nPerforming in Japan and around the world, Blasdel maintains a balance between traditional shakuhachi music, modern compositions and cross-genre work with musicians, dancers, poets and visual artists. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Mika Kimula, vocalist<\/strong><br \/>\nKimula specializes in Japanese song&#8212;both in the traditional and modern styles&#8212;composed during the process of Westernization and modernization of post 19th Century Japan.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hidejir&#333; Honj&#333;, shamisen<\/strong> <br \/>\nHonj&#333; is an award-winning shamisen performer and primarily specializes in modern music and performs with the international contemporary ensemble groups and orchestras. <\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariyoshihara.com\/\">Mari Yoshihara<\/a>, piano<\/strong><br \/>\nYoshihara is a scholar of American studies with a specialization in <abbr title=\"United States\">U.S.<\/abbr> cultural history, <abbr>U.S.<\/abbr>-Asian relations, literary and cultural studies and gender studies.
