Photo courtesy Office of Maunakea Management<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malamamaunakea.org\/\">Office of Maunakea Management<\/a> at the <a href=\"http:\/\/hilo.hawaii.edu\">University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> at Hilo<\/a>, which is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Maunakea Science Reserve, is seeking community volunteers to participate in its ongoing M&#257;lama Maunakea campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The effort concentrates on eradicating the highly invasive fireweed (<em>Senecio madagascariensis<\/em>) along the Maunakea Access Road and around Halep&#333;haku at approximately 9,200-foot elevation. For West <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> volunteers, the Office of Maunakea Management will help coordinate ride sharing.
