Veterans and the public and across the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span>’s<\/a> 10 campuses are invited to attend the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span>’s annual Veterans Conference on April 27, 2015,8 a.m.–4 p.m. at the 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Mānoa Campus Center Ballroom. Registration is free.<\/p>\n

This year’s conference entitled Boots to Books will focus on transitioning from the military to college. William D. Wood<\/strong>, chair of the sociology department at 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Mānoa’s College of Social Sciences<\/a>, will deliver the keynote address.<\/p>\n

The conference also features a panel discussion by current 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Mānoa student veterans, some of whom recently separated from the military. <\/p>\n

糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> veteran’s tuition policy change<\/h2>\n

A new 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> policy granting in-state tuition to all qualifying veterans of the United States Armed Forces went into effect this semester. To qualify, veterans must be honorably discharged from the military and must use their G.I.<\/abbr> education benefits.<\/p>\n

When the tuition policy was approved in November 2014, 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> President David Lassner<\/strong> said, “It’s the right thing to do for the veterans who have served our country. But just as importantly, it’s the right thing to do for Hawaiʻi<\/span>. The veterans have a wealth of knowledge and experience and a University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> education will enable them to unlock their capabilities for them and their families to thrive in their communities throughout our state.”<\/p>\n
