The event, part of the Lyle L. Guslander Distinguished ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ors Program in Advanced Food Service and Hospitality Education,  showcased student and professional talent through hot and cold food competitions. Because this competition is sanctioned by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acfchefs.org\/\">American Culinary Federation<\/a> (<abbr>ACF<\/abbr>), certified chefs from the <abbr>ACF<\/abbr> were brought to <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> to serve as judges.<\/p>\n<p>Chef and Professor <strong>Alan Tsuchiyama<\/strong>, coordinator of the event said, &ldquo;I am grateful to work with, and have the support of, the dedicated faculty and staff of our culinary department which, without their help, this amazing show of culinary talent would not be possible.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30341\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30341\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/pastillage-lighthouse.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/pastillage-lighthouse.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"491\" class=\"size-full wp-image-30341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/pastillage-lighthouse.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/pastillage-lighthouse-211x260.jpg 211w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30341\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Josielyn Agas&#8217;s &#8220;Pastillage Lighthouse&#8221; won a Gold Medal in the competition<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Viewers walking through the cold food salon saw intricate and delicate designs, like Josielyn Agas&#8217;s ivy vines on her Pastillage Lighthouse, which won a gold medal. Professional Chef David Brown&#8217;s, A Christmas Elf, was a crowd pleaser with incredible detail and color enhancements. For the hot food salon, Sharmaine Butac displayed her Tilapia Mousseline Roulade, which won her a gold medal, as did Wing Yin Luk for her Beurre Blanc Poached Fresh Water Tilapia.<\/p>\n<p>For the team competition, <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> Community College&#8217;s Team 1 won the silver medal, and Team 2 won the gold medal.
