Neil Abercrombie released $58.5 million to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/\">University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> System<\/a> for capital improvement projects at various campuses.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our university and college facilities must provide students and faculty with a foundation for success in higher education,&rdquo; Gov. Abercrombie said. &ldquo;In order for <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> to fulfill its educational mission, we must invest in the system&#8217;s physical infrastructure.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Capital improvement projects<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$50,000,000&#8212;Systemwide capital renewal and deferred maintenance\n<p>Planning, design and construction funds to address the backlog of repair and maintenance projects at <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M&#257;noa ($37,544,000), <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Hilo ($3,456,000), <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> ($24,000), <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Community Colleges ($8,725,000) and <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Systemwide ($251,000). <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> has a $402 million project backlog for reroofing, renovations, resurfacing, mechanical\/electrical systems, repainting and other improvements.<\/li>\n<li>$8,000,000&#8212;Leeward Community College, <a href=\"http:\/\/lcctheatre.hawaii.edu\/\">theatre<\/a> renovation\n<p>Design and construction funds for major structural repairs, interior renovations and improvements. The theatre, which hosts 100,000 patrons a year, was completed in 1974 and no major renovation work has been performed since.<\/li>\n<li>$500,000&#8212;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kapiolani.hawaii.edu\/\"><span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> Community College<\/a>, Kopiko classrooms and courtyard, phase <abbr title=\"two\">II<\/abbr>\n<p>Construction funds to renovate Wing B.
