The annual Discovery Fair<\/a> at Leeward Community College<\/a> offers a family-oriented day of engaging educational exhibits, carnival games, food booths, entertainment and a variety of Safe Communities activities and information. The fair will take place on Saturday, November 1, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. on the Pearl City campus. Admission and parking are free.<\/p>\n

Highlights include more than 50 bustling hands-on learning activities for the entire family. For the third year in a row, the fair also features informative activities from Weed and Seed Hawaiʻi<\/span><\/a> and Safe Communities Day. Fair partipants can meet HPD<\/abbr>’s trained dogs, fight virtual fires and explore a variety of emergency vehicles.<\/p>\n

Returning crowd-favorites include Leeward 5-0, a mock crime scene investigation; Quicksand Goo, a mysterious substance that’s both solid and liquid; Mad Hatter, creating wearable hats from recycled materials; BONES, a forensic puzzle waiting to be solved; and the Dollar Book Sale.<\/p>\n
