Out Loud in the Library! at Windward Community College<\/a> presents local MC<\/abbr> and songbird Big Mox, classical and Hawaiian guitarist and University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> music instructor Ian O’Sullivan<\/strong>, Fresh Cafe poetry jammer and writing workshop leader Jaimie Gusman<\/strong> and celebrated creative writer and novelist David Odhiambo<\/strong> on Wednesday, April 2, 6–8 p.m.<\/p>\n

Out Loud in the Library! is a literary and music event celebrating the rich intersection of words and music by local artists, and is meant to inspire and encourage students to find their own creative voice through writing, reading, poetry, music, and spoken word.<\/p>\n

Big Mox<\/strong>
\nBig Mox (Jonah Moananu) appeared on the reality show American Idol<\/em>, where he made it to Hollywood in the top 32 out of 80,000 competitors. He is known as the Island Freestyle Champion, winning MC<\/abbr> battles both locally and on the mainland.<\/p>\n

Ian O’Sullivan<\/strong>
\nProclaimed by Classical Guitar<\/em> as “thoughtful” and praised by The Honolulu Advertiser<\/em> as “delightful,” Ian O’Sullivan is a classically-trained guitarist and composer from the North Shore of Oʻahu<\/span>. ’Sullivan released his first solo album Born and Raised<\/em>, featuring his original compositions.<\/p>\n

Jaimie Gusman<\/strong>
\nJaimie Gusman is a poet, PhD<\/abbr> candidate in creative writing at ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½<\/abbr> Mānoa<\/a>, and a digital marketing newbie. In her spare time she runs Mixing Innovative Arts<\/a>, a monthly reading series and summer writing workshop series in Kakaʻako<\/span>. Jaimie has two chapbooks, The Anyjar<\/em> and One Petal Row<\/em>, and her poems can be found in online and print journals nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n

David Odhiambo<\/strong>
\nDavid Odhiambo was born in Nairobi, Kenya. He is the author of diss\/ed banded nation<\/em>, Kipligat’s Chance<\/em> and the Reverend’s Apprentice<\/em>. As an English instructor at the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span>–West Oʻahu<\/span><\/a>, Odhiambo co-founded and co-edits Papaʻeleʻele<\/span><\/a><\/em>, an online student magazine that features student essays, poems and short stories with sociopolitical and cultural issues.<\/p>\n
