Syrmos, <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> <span lang=\"haw\">M&#257;noa<\/span> Interim Provost, as the first finalist to visit the campus April 27&#8211;28 (more information on Syrmos is below).<\/p>\n<p>To honor requests by the candidates for confidentiality, the name of each finalist will be announced approximately one week prior to their scheduled campus visit. Information about each finalist will be posted on the <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/executivesearch\/chancellor\/\"><abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> <span lang=\"haw\">M&#257;noa<\/span> chancellor search website<\/a> ahead of their forums.<\/p>\n<p>Students, faculty, staff, administrators and community members are invited to attend open forums to meet the finalists. Each candidate will share their vision for <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> <span lang=\"haw\">M&#257;noa<\/span>, followed by a question-and-answer session. Syrmos<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/manoa-syrmos-v-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"Syrmos in office\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-217294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/manoa-syrmos-v-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/manoa-syrmos-v-93x130.jpg 93w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/manoa-syrmos-v.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 214px) 100vw, 214px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Syrmos currently serves as Interim Provost at the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> <span lang=\"haw\">M&#257;noa<\/span>, a role he has held since July 2025. He previously served for 11 years as the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> system Vice President for Research and Innovation. He has also held leadership roles as associate vice chancellor for research and graduate education at the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> <span lang=\"haw\">M&#257;noa<\/span> and associate dean in the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> <span lang=\"haw\">M&#257;noa<\/span> College of Engineering. Syrmos is a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. During his tenure as vice president for research and innovation, <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> extramural funding reached a record high of $734 million.<\/p>\n<p>He is the author or co-author of more than 100 journal and conference papers and has authored a book and numerous scholarly articles. He also served on a number of boards and committees supporting research and innovation initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Syrmos earned his PhD in electrical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a diploma in electrical engineering from Democritus University of Thrace in Greece.
