Tom Loeser<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The School of Architecture<\/a> at the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at Mānoa hosts an exhibition by Tom Loeser<\/a> called Details, Details, Details<\/em>. Loeser teaches and practices different ways to manipulate wood. The exhibition runs March 20–April 10, 2014 at the school’s Haigo and Irene Shen Architecture Gallery<\/a>, 8 a.m–5 p.m.<\/p>\n

In a video on the American Craft Council website, Loeser comments that people are familiar and comfortable with furniture forms making furniture derived objects particularly accessible as a starting point for questioning issues of functionality and social interaction.<\/p>\n

Loeser will present an open carving and milk paint workshop in the gallery on Tuesday, March 18, 12–3 p.m. There will be a talk with the artist on Thursday, March 20, 6–7 p.m. in Arch 215 followed by the opening reception at the gallery, 7–9 p.m. <\/p>\n

Loeser has exhibited widely in the United States and internationally since the 1980’s. He is a professor of art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison<\/a> and currently serves as chair of the art department. In 2013, Loeser was elected to the American Craft Council College of Fellows<\/a>.<\/p>\n
