The award was established in 2025 by the M\u0101noa Faculty Senate&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/uhmfs\/committees\/cee\/\">Committee on Educational Effectiveness<\/a> (<abbr>CEE<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/manoa-tim-60th-anniversary-classroom-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"people in a classroom\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-228409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/manoa-tim-60th-anniversary-classroom-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/manoa-tim-60th-anniversary-classroom-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/manoa-tim-60th-anniversary-classroom.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This award represents the maturity and beauty of programs that have truly blossomed through meaningful assessment,&rdquo; said Justin Walguarnery, <abbr>CEE<\/abbr> committee chair. &ldquo;It is a &lsquo;for faculty, by faculty&rsquo; initiative that celebrates the hard work of using assessment to make an appreciable difference in the academic experience.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The inaugural recipients include programs in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Anthropology (<abbr title=\"master of arts\">MA<\/abbr> and <abbr title=\"doctor of philosophy\">PhD<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Asian International Affairs (<abbr>MA<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Cinematic Arts (<abbr title=\"bachelor of arts\">BA<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Early Childhood Education (<abbr title=\"master of education\">MEd<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Education (<abbr>PhD<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Education: Teaching (<abbr title=\"master of education in teaching\">MEdT<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Educational Admin (<abbr title=\"master of education\">MEd<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Educational Psychology (<abbr>MEd<\/abbr> and <abbr>PhD<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Elementary Education (<abbr title=\"bachelor of education\">BEd<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Library &#38; Information Sciences (<abbr title=\"master of library and information science\">MLISC<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Professional Educational Practice (<abbr title=\"doctorate in education\">EdD<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Secondary Education (<abbr>BEd<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Social Work (<abbr title=\"bachelor of social work\">BSW<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Sociology (<abbr title=\"master of social work\">MA<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Special Education (<abbr>BEd<\/abbr> and <abbr>MEd<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Theatre and Dance (<abbr>BA<\/abbr> and <abbr title=\"bachelor of fine arts\">BFA<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Faculty-driven review process<\/h2>\n<p>Recipients were selected through a rigorous peer-review process led by the Assessment Report Review Committee (<abbr>ARRC<\/abbr>), a group of about 40 faculty members trained jointly by <abbr>CEE<\/abbr> and the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Assessment and Curriculum Support Center (<abbr>ACSC<\/abbr>). Organizers describe the award as a fully faculty-owned effort that highlights collaboration and shared accountability.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This award represents the maturity and beauty of programs that have truly blossomed through meaningful assessment.<br \/>&#8212;Justin Walguarney<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>All <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa degree programs submit biennial assessment reports outlining student learning outcomes, curriculum development and benchmarks for achievement. These reports are required for accreditation and are publicly available on the <abbr>ACSC<\/abbr> website. From more than 200 undergraduate and graduate programs, 20 were recognized in the award&rsquo;s inaugural year.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning in fall 2026, every degree program will have the opportunity to self-evaluate using the award criteria, including student learning outcomes, curriculum mapping, evidence of learning, fair and reliable evaluation, use of results and culturally responsive assessment practices.
