Site visits included K\u0113\u014dkea Malalani with Common Ground Collective, <span lang=\"haw\">Kupa&#699;a<\/span> Farms, L\u0101 <span lang=\"haw\">&#699;Ulu<\/span> at Maui Nui Botanical Gardens and <span lang=\"haw\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Taro Farm.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_226122\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-226122\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/manoa-ctahr-maui-farmers-2-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"group photo\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-226122\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/manoa-ctahr-maui-farmers-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/manoa-ctahr-maui-farmers-2-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/manoa-ctahr-maui-farmers-2.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-226122\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students who completed GoFarm <span lang=\"haw\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2019s AgXposure and are now in AgXcel, which combines classroom lessons, business skills development, and hands-on field training.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&ldquo;Being part of AgXposure outlined the state of farming and agriculture on Maui and showed us that there are many methods of farming and many ways to impact the food system\u2026it has opened more doors of opportunity, and my imagination has run wild with all the possibilities,&rdquo; shared one aspiring farmer.<\/p>\n<h2>From seed to sales: hands-on training, specialized skills<\/h2>\n<p>Nine students who completed AgXposure have advanced into the 7&#8211;month intensive AgXcel phase. The curriculum covers everything from seed to sales: crop production, soil health, farm systems, equipment operation, harvest techniques, food safety, farm financials and more.<\/p>\n<p>Each student is required to develop a detailed crop plan of 25 varieties of vegetables for a 7&#8211;week Community Supported Agriculture&#8212;a weekly subscription box of mixed vegetables&#8212;that they will implement under the guidance of their farm coach. Students will also market their produce and track sales to practice essential entrepreneurial skills.<\/p>\n<p>The group is expected to graduate in April 2026.
