Reading time: <\/span> 2<\/span> minutes<\/span><\/span>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\"peopleThe University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> and the Hawaiʻi<\/span> State Department of Education (HIDOE<\/abbr>) today launched Direct2糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr><\/a>, a new initiative that simplifies the college admissions process and removes barriers to higher education for Hawaiʻi\u2019s<\/span> public high school seniors. The program was officially introduced on October 13 at a morning pep rally at Kauaʻi<\/span> High School followed by a news conference at Farrington High School.<\/p>\n[vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https:\/\/youtube.com\/shorts\/3_qQRW0XL-o” el_aspect=”916″ align=”right” el_id=”wrap-video-right”][vc_column_text]\n

Direct2糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> provides free, direct admission to nine 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> campuses based on students\u2019 grade point averages (GPAs), allowing them to secure a place at a 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> campus without completing a traditional application. Once students complete a short online form, their admission is confirmed contingent upon graduation in May.<\/p>\n

“Direct2糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> recognizes the hard work of our public school students by making the path to college clearer and easier,” said 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> President Wendy Hensel. “This is about opening doors to lifelong success, enabling our students to pursue their dreams, contribute to our communities and build an even stronger Hawaiʻi<\/span>, right here at home.”<\/p>\n

Currently, about half of Hawaiʻi<\/span> public high school graduates pursue higher education after graduation. Direct2糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> aims to increase college enrollment by making the state\u2019s higher education system more accessible to them.<\/p>\n

“Direct2糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> affirms the potential and readiness of every high school graduate,” HIDOE<\/abbr> Superintendent Keith Hayashi said. “Together with the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span>, we\u2019re strengthening the bridge between high school and college, ensuring that the preparation happening in our classrooms leads directly to opportunity, and that our graduates are equipped to lead, serve and make a difference in Hawaiʻi<\/span> and beyond.”<\/p>\n

糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Hilo, 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span>, and the seven 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Community Colleges—Hawaiʻi<\/span> (Hawaiʻi<\/span> Island), Honolulu, Kapiʻolani<\/span>, Kauaʻi<\/span>, Leeward, 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Maui College and Windward—are participating in the Direct2糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> initiative. 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa is expected to join the program in 2026. 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> offers a full range of educational opportunities, from trade certifications and two-year degrees to four-year and graduate programs.<\/p>\n

“This initiative sends a powerful message to our young people, that they are supported, that college is within reach, and that Hawaiʻi<\/span> is ready to invest in their future,” said Lt. Gov. Sylvia Luke. “By removing barriers and creating a clear path to higher education, Direct2糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> will help grow our local workforce, strengthen families and ensure that more of our keiki can thrive here at home.”<\/p>\n

To mark the launch, every public high school senior in Hawaiʻi<\/span> will receive an official acceptance letter to 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr>, signed by Hensel and Hayashi. Postcards explaining the program have also been mailed to students\u2019 homes to share information with parents and families.<\/p>\n
