Stephen Lau Water Research Endowed Scholarship<\/a>, which will be awarded in fall 2014. The award amount is $1,500.<\/p>\n<p>The scholarship was established with funds endowed to the <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> at M&#257;noa<\/a> by L. Stephen Lau and Mrs. Virginia May Lau of Honolulu. Lau is an emeritus professor of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cee.hawaii.edu\/\">civil engineering<\/a> at <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M&#257;noa&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eng.hawaii.edu\/\">College of Engineering<\/a> and was director of the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M&#257;noa <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wrrc.hawaii.edu\/index.shtml\">Water Resources Research Center<\/a> from 1971 to 1990.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the scholarship is to further knowledge of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>&#8217;s natural waters by providing financial assistance that may be used for anything related to costs of attendance or research.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Part- or full-time <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> system student<\/li>\n<li>Upper division undergraduate or graduate student<\/li>\n<li>Any discipline related to water resources in the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> System pursuing a minimum four year academic degree.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Selection criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum <abbr>GPA<\/abbr> of 3.2 for undergraduates or 3.5 for graduates<\/li>\n<li>An essay or a research proposal on any aspect of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> natural waters and how the applicant&#8217;s research or area of study is related to it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications are available at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wrrc.hawaii.edu\">at the Water Resources Research Center website<\/a>. Applicants must submit the application form, an essay or research proposal and evidence of eligibility for the scholarship to the director, <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M&#257;noa Water Resources Research Center, 2540 Dole <abbr title=\"Street\">St<\/abbr>., Holmes Hall 283, Honolulu <abbr>HI<\/abbr> 96822.
