University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at M\u0101noa School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology<\/a> alumna Alyssa Agustin and more than a dozen more with 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> ties were recognized on the Pacific Business News<\/em> (PBN<\/abbr><\/em>) 40 Under 40 list<\/a>. The list spotlights young professionals in Hawaiʻi<\/span> who demonstrate leadership, career achievement and a strong commitment to the community.<\/p>\n

“I am honored to be selected in 2025 for my leadership in managing coastal projects and for my service to the community through mentoring and STEM<\/abbr> education,” said Agustin, who is a project manager at Sea Engineering.<\/p>\n

The recognition highlighted Agustin\u2019s work launching Hawaiʻi<\/span>\u2019s first Society of American Military Engineers STEM<\/abbr> Camp for high school students, as well as her broader efforts in professional development and volunteer leadership.<\/p>\n

Agustin earned a bachelor\u2019s of science in global environmental science<\/a> in 2013 and a master\u2019s of science in oceanography<\/a> in 2017. Mark Merrifield, who was an oceanography professor and director of the 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Sea Level Center, advised her undergraduate and graduate research, which focused on wave-driven sediment transport, marine debris deposition patterns and the processing of tide gauge data.<\/p>\n

At Sea Engineering, Agustin manages a wide range of coastal and marine infrastructure projects. She leads coastal assessments, environmental permitting, construction oversight, drone-based aerial surveys, stakeholder coordination, and business development and marketing.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m deeply grateful for the education and mentorship I received through SOEST<\/abbr>,” Agustin said. “SOEST<\/abbr> gave me a strong foundation in scientific thinking, data analysis and technical communication. It\u2019s been incredibly rewarding to build a career that stays grounded in ocean science while contributing to real-world coastal resilience and infrastructure solutions in Hawaiʻi<\/span> and the Pacific region.”<\/p>\n
