I&#8217;m really excited about that.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The two-day visit began with a meeting with the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Cabinet, led by Provost Michael Bruno, followed by a campus-wide welcome ceremony on the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Hall lawn, where more than 200 people were in attendance. She also spent the morning touring several culturally significant sites on campus.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;New beginnings and the hope of what\u2019s in front of us and the absolute open arms that people greeted me with,&rdquo; Hensel said. &ldquo;More than that, the feeling and the depth of history that&#8217;s behind everything on this campus and the culture&#8212;I&#8217;m just so touched.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/system-president-hensel-visits-manoa-welina-manoa-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"people standing\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-209706\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/system-president-hensel-visits-manoa-welina-manoa-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/system-president-hensel-visits-manoa-welina-manoa-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/system-president-hensel-visits-manoa-welina-manoa.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The day continued with a meeting with the <span aria-label=\"Kualii\">K\u016bali&#699;i<\/span> Council, a lunch with student leaders from the Associated Students of the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> and the Graduate Student Organization, and discussions with the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Staff Senate.<\/p>\n<p>An open forum at the Campus Center Ballroom concluded the day, and more than 200 people attended in person or watched via livestream. Her presence underscored her intent to engage directly with the university community to build relationships and gain insights.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Here at <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa, we recognize we have a special kuleana,&rdquo; Bruno said. &ldquo;We are the flagship campus&#8212;20,000 students, 5,000 employees and almost 100 academic programs.
