Most have been long-time friends and occasional collaborators.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;For me, the biggest thrill was sharing the stage with my friends Tarvin and Jeff and my niece, M&#257;puana,&rdquo; said Donaghy. &ldquo;It was also a thrill to have Gaylord Holomalia of Kalapana and Israel <span aria-label=\"Kamakawiwoole\">Kamakawiwo\u02bbole<\/span>&#8216;s band join us on keyboard. Gaylord wrote &ldquo;Lover of Mine,&rdquo; and my Hawaiian interpretation of it was one of the songs we performed. His compositions have been recorded by <span aria-label=\"Kealii\">Keali\u02bbi<\/span> Reichel, The Pandanus Club, Willie <abbr>K<\/abbr>. and Amy <span aria-label=\"Hanaialii\">H\u0101naiali\u02bbi<\/span> Gilliom, the De Lima <span aria-label=\"Ohana\">\u02bbOhana<\/span>, O\u2019Brian Eselu and many others. He has produced five <abbr>CD<\/abbr>s by students in his <a href=\"https:\/\/maui.hawaii.edu\/ihm\/\">Institute of Hawaiian Music<\/a> program at <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Maui College, which have garnered three N&#257; H&#333;k&#363; Hanohano Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Three of the <abbr>EP<\/abbr>\u2019s five tracks are originals. Donaghy composed &ldquo;Aia I K&#299;lauea (<span aria-label=\"A\">\u02bb\u0100<\/span> Mai)&rdquo; after a visit to the <span aria-label=\"Halemaumau\">Halema\u02bbuma\u02bbu<\/span> Crater several years ago, to which Makuak&#257;ne added the music.<\/p>\n<p>Two tracks are Hawaiian interpretations of well-known English songs. &ldquo;Tennessee Whiskey&rdquo; was composed by Dean Dillon and first recorded by George Jones, and most recently reinterpreted by Chris Stapleon. After securing Dillon\u2019s blessing, Donaghy created this version in <span aria-label=\"olelo\">\u02bb\u014dlelo<\/span> <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai\u02bbi<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The final track, &ldquo;I Ka <span aria-label=\"Lai\">La\u02bbi<\/span> O Lahaina,&rdquo; is a reinvisioned re-recording of one of Donaghy and Makuak&#257;ne\u2019s earliest collaborations.
