Several University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at Hilo basketball players earned All-PacWest<\/abbr> awards for the 2022–23 season. The six Vulcans recognized were Nadjrick Peat<\/strong>, Carlos Ramsey Jr.<\/strong>, Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones<\/strong> and Darren Williams<\/strong> on the men\u2019s basketball<\/a> team, and Mandi Kawaha<\/strong> and Kamalu Kamakawiwoʻole<\/span><\/strong> from the women\u2019s basketball<\/a> team.<\/p>\n

Peat and Ramsey Jr. earned PacWest<\/abbr> Defender of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards, respectively. They are the first players at 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Hilo to ever win All-PacWest<\/abbr> men\u2019s basketball season awards.<\/p>\n

Peat was a disruptive force in the middle of the paint on defense, leading the PacWest<\/abbr> with 62 blocked shots. He was also a three-time PacWest<\/abbr> Defender of the Week<\/a> recipient this season, with his most recent honor being on February 13.<\/p>\n

Ramsey Jr. averaged 16.7 points per game and shot 54% from the field. He was also named to the All-PacWest<\/abbr> men\u2019s basketball second team.<\/p>\n

Tait-Jones and Williams were both named to the All-PacWest<\/abbr> first team. Tait-Jones averaged 17.7 points, 9.1 rebounds and almost four assists per game, while Williams averaged 15.9 points and 4.6 assists per game, and converted 84% of his free throw attempts.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s basketball<\/h2>\n

Kawaha landed a spot on the All-PacWest<\/abbr> first team. She became 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Hilo’s all-time leading scorer<\/a> this season (1,485 points) and was second in the PacWest<\/abbr> in points (17.8 per game) and assists (3.9 per game).<\/p>\n

Kamakawiwoʻole<\/span> was named to the All-PacWest<\/abbr> third team. This is her first All-PacWest<\/abbr> selection. She was also named PacWest<\/abbr> Defender of the Week<\/a> on December 5, 2022.<\/p>\n
