Longtime University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at Mānoa supporter Joyce Lau<\/strong> is the recipient of the 2023 Charlie Ushijima Award, which is presented to an outstanding volunteer for dedicated and unselfish service to 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Athletics. Lau will receive her award during halftime of the men\u2019s basketball game on Saturday, February 11 at the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.<\/p>\n

Lau has been connected with 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> for more than 15 years, first as an employee with 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Foundation<\/a> then in 2010 when she began working for the Nā Koa Football Club<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After her retirement in 2018, Lau continued to volunteer with many of the same planning committees and events that she worked on as an employee. She has been a planning leader for men’s volleyball’s Aʻo<\/span> a Koa Event, baseball’s For the Love of the Game and the inaugural Sistahhood Social.<\/p>\n

She is also a dedicated supporter of the Men\u2019s Basketball Booster Club, Letterwinners Club, the Murphy\u2019s Pigskin Pigout, Nā Koa Golf Tournament, Hawaiʻi<\/span> Bowl and Diamond Head Classic. She and her husband, Eddie can be seen at almost every athletics event, and she travels to support the teams on the road.<\/p>\n

In 2004, Lau returned to school and earned her degree in psychology from 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Mānoa.<\/p>\n
