David Ige speaking at the Academy for Creative Media Student Production Center grand opening at <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>More than 350 guests gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the $37-million Academy for Creative Media (<abbr>ACM<\/abbr>) Student Production Center at the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2013&#8211;West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> on November 18.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It\u2019s a fabulous, state-of-the-art-capacity building that will really teach the future to our students,&rdquo; said <strong>Chris Lee<\/strong>, founder and director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/acmsystem.hawaii.edu\/campus\/uh-west-oahu\/\">Academy for Creative Media System<\/a>. &ldquo;This is really the hub for creative media education throughout the <abbr>ACM<\/abbr> System.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"blocklink\">Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2021\/02\/07\/acm-facility-ready-for-students\/\">New state-of-the-art Academy for Creative Media facility ready for students<\/a>, August 2022<\/span>\t<\/p>\n<p>The facility will link complementary facilities and programs throughout the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> System and across the state as a catalyst for <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2019s intellectual property workforce. The facility features industry-standard equipment, including a Dolby Atmos 100-seat screening room and mixing stage, esports arena, post-production suites, emerging media lab, incubator space and industry-standard sound stage.<\/p>\n<h2>Creative media is fastest-growing degree program<\/h2>\n<p>The building aligns with the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span>\u2019s fastest-growing degree program&#8212;the <a href=\"https:\/\/westoahu.hawaii.edu\/academics\/degrees\/creative-media\/\">bachelor of arts in creative media<\/a>. The program embraces new media through video, animation, video games, social media platforms, apps and virtual and augmented reality. The degree has concentrations in <a href=\"https:\/\/westoahu.hawaii.edu\/academics\/degrees\/creative-media\/communications-and-new-media-technologies\/\">communications and new media technology<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/westoahu.hawaii.edu\/academics\/degrees\/creative-media\/design-and-media\/\">design and media<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/westoahu.hawaii.edu\/academics\/degrees\/creative-media\/video-game-design-and-development\/\">video game design and development<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/westoahu.hawaii.edu\/academics\/degrees\/creative-media\/general-creative-media\/\">general creative media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_169409\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-169409\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/wewt-oahu-acm-student-producation-center-opening-3.jpg\" alt=\"two people cutting lei\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-full wp-image-169409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/wewt-oahu-acm-student-producation-center-opening-3.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/wewt-oahu-acm-student-producation-center-opening-3-130x130.jpg 130w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-169409\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chris Lee and Maenette Benham<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Student Production Center is designed to stimulate <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2019s production and creative media ecosystem, including the state\u2019s growing film and television production industry. <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2019s creative sector, which includes the film, music, digital media and arts industries, accounts for nearly 54,000 jobs across the state.<\/p>\n<p>The new building serves as a connector between academic programming across the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> System and the delivery of hands-on experiences that will prepare students for jobs in motion pictures, video production, design and social media, as well as digital content creation, video game design and development, and the integration of storytelling and technology.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This building means a lot,&rdquo; said <strong>Joseph Baldueza<\/strong>, who received his bachelor\u2019s degree from <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> in spring 2020, with a concentration in general creative media. &ldquo;This program means a lot. It always had awesome instructors, a really good and challenging curriculum. Now it has a facility and the equipment to support what we already had.&rdquo; Baldueza is now a production manager at Marine Corps Community Services <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>. <\/p>\n<h2>Dignitaries and celebrities attend<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/wewt-oahu-acm-student-producation-center-opening-2-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"A C M building interior\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-169408\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/wewt-oahu-acm-student-producation-center-opening-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/wewt-oahu-acm-student-producation-center-opening-2-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/wewt-oahu-acm-student-producation-center-opening-2.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the grand opening and blessing ceremony, dignitaries, students, faculty, administrators, industry professionals, celebrities and supporters enjoyed opening music by <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> students, MW Restaurant fare and photo opportunities throughout self-guided tours of the facility.<\/p>\n<p>Program speakers included Gov.
