Directed by <strong>Kara Jhalak Miller<\/strong>, the season\u2019s largest dance production will highlight internationally renowned choreographers from the Korea National University of the Arts in addition to original contributions by local <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> artists, <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa dance and music faculty.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_168756\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-168756\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/manoa-dance-form-within-a-form-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Dancers on stage\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-168756\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/manoa-dance-form-within-a-form-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/manoa-dance-form-within-a-form-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/manoa-dance-form-within-a-form.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-168756\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dancers in <em>Form Within a Form: Echoes and Reverberations<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&ldquo;This production focuses on deeply investigative creative processes with themes of nurturing, nourishing, sustaining, transmission and transformation that also explore immersive perception and physical listening through the senses and body,&rdquo; said Miller, associate professor and associate chair of dance at <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa.<\/p>\n<p>The National Endowment of the Arts awarded the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/call\/\">College of Arts, Languages and Letters<\/a> $10,000 for the production, which helped bring renowned Korean dance artists \uc815\uc7ac\ud601 Jae Hyuk Jung and \uae40\uc0bc\uc9c4  Samjin Kim to the M\u0101noa campus to train students for two special numbers, &ldquo;\ucd9c\uc815\/Chuljeong: The Battle Against Invisible Fear&rdquo; and &ldquo;Hangout,&rdquo; focusing on Indigenous contemporary dance with Korean traditional contexts to be featured in the concert. The concert will also feature choreography from local artists and <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa dance and music faculty: Miller, <strong>Sai Bhatawadekar<\/strong>, <strong><span aria-label=\"Kaohinani\">Ka&#699;ohinani<\/span> Yojo Daniels<\/strong>, <strong>Betsy Fisher<\/strong>, <strong>Amy Lynn Schiffner<\/strong> and <strong>Jonathan Clarke Sypert<\/strong>. Original music compositions by <strong>Rafael Borges Amaral<\/strong>, <strong>Keith Cross<\/strong>, <strong>Takuma Itoh<\/strong> and <strong>John Signor<\/strong>, with movement-based media art by <strong>Larry Asakawa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The mainstage production, originally slated for fall 2020, was postponed due to the pandemic. Audiences will be transported through a wide spectrum of dance genres and traditions such as Bhatawadekar\u2019s \u0939\u0940\u091a \u0907\u0928\u0902\u0924\u0940 \u092f\u093e\u0935\u0902 \u091c\u0940  &#8211; <em>Invocation<\/em>, a Marathi song choreographed to embody form inspired by the god of stage; Cross, Daniels, Schiffner and Sypert\u2019s, <em>Meta<\/em>, exploring ways in which lyricism is connected to cognitive function, language, and cultural and environmental sustainability.
