The total amount for the fiscal year July 1, 2021 \u2013 June 30, 2022 surpassed the previous year by $64.75 million, an increase of 65&#37;. It was almost double the $84.7 million raised just two years ago.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/manoa-commencement-1-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"3 U H Manoa graduates wearing lei\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-105289\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/manoa-commencement-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/manoa-commencement-1-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/manoa-commencement-1-630x353.jpg 630w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/manoa-commencement-1.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Extraordinary gifts included $50 million for ocean research, a grant that aims to boost the share of residents with college degrees, and an endowed scholarship bequest for underrepresented students from Pacific Island countries.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our donors showed tremendous confidence in <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr>, backed by concrete support that changes lives and strengthens <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2019s economy,&rdquo; a Lumina award establishing <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> as a Talent, Innovation, Equity state; and a $3 million anonymous gift to <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Hilo that&#8212;in addition to two other endowed scholarships&#8212;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2022\/06\/21\/anonymous-donor-3m-scholarships-uh-hilo-1st-lgbtq\/\">created the first <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> scholarship for <abbr>LGBTQ+<\/abbr> students<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Alumni and other individuals also committed substantial gifts to <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> for scholarships, faculty, research and facilities, including the Residences for Innovative Student Entrepreneurs (<abbr>RISE<\/abbr>) project, which is being built across from the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa campus under a public-private partnership between <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Foundation, <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> and Hunt Cos.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_164837\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-164837\" style=\"width: 214px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/foundation-agriculture-gift-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"Smiling woman holding a bucket of vegetables\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-164837\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/foundation-agriculture-gift-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/foundation-agriculture-gift-93x130.jpg 93w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/foundation-agriculture-gift.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 214px) 100vw, 214px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-164837\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A $1 million grant from American AgCredit and CoBank builds upon their previous investment<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&ldquo;These results are a strong endorsement of <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr>\u2019s strategy and effectiveness as we focus on increasing access and graduation rates, diversifying <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2019s economy and preparing a new workforce as our faculty, students and alumni tackle the grand challenges of sustainability, energy, climate resilience, conservation and community health,&rdquo; said <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> President <strong>David Lassner<\/strong>. &ldquo;Each gift to <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> moves all of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> to a better future and underscores the value of our great public higher education system to our people, our islands and global understanding.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The total included nearly $35 million for student scholarships, increased funding for academic support and research and almost $250,000 raised during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2021\/12\/02\/giving-tuesday-2021-totals\/\">the university\u2019s second-ever Giving Tuesday<\/a> last fall.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The funds raised in the last fiscal year will have a lasting impact on our students and our communities,&rdquo; said C.
