The agreement allows <abbr>NIC<\/abbr> students to pay <abbr>NIC<\/abbr> tuition while studying at a <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Community College in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii.\">Hawai&#699;i.<\/span> <abbr>NIC<\/abbr>\u2019s campuses and facilities are located on or near Vancouver Island.<\/p>\n<p>The second agreement builds upon the 15-year relationship between <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> <abbr>CC<\/abbr> and <abbr>NIC<\/abbr>, with an expanded focus on educational pathways, joint research projects and cultural exchange opportunities for students, faculty and staff.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Though the histories of the First Nations of Canada and the Native Hawaiians in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> diverge in the details, it is clear that much is shared: deeply held convictions about sovereignty, the primacy of cultural and linguistic heritage, and sacred relationships with the land,&rdquo; said <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> <abbr>CC<\/abbr> Chancellor <strong>Louise Pagotto<\/strong>. &ldquo;We have so much to learn from each other about how to promote Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing within Western academic institutions for the betterment of our communities. The cohort was offered in partnership with the Kwakiult, Gwa&#8217;sala-&#8216;Nakwaxda&#8217;xw and Quatsino Nations.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We raise our hands in gratitude to University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Vice President for Community Colleges <strong>Erika Lacro<\/strong>, <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> Community College Chancellor Louise Pagotto, the Native Hawaiian Council and Dean <strong><span aria-label=\"Nawaa\">N&#257;wa&#699;a<\/span> Napoleon<\/strong> for hosting <abbr>NIC<\/abbr>,&rdquo; said <abbr>NIC<\/abbr> President and <abbr title=\"chief executive officer\">CEO<\/abbr> Lisa Domae. &ldquo;Indigenous-led, land-based language revitalization is at the very heart of <abbr>NIC<\/abbr>\u2019s commitment to \u2018work together as one\u2019 and to walk the long path toward truth and reconciliation. As island schools, we share a special kinship with the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> and <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> Community College that we look forward to growing together. The rich conversations about Indigenous education, knowledge, practices and the <span aria-label=\"ainabased\">&#699;aina-based<\/span> learning around the island of <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> were facilitated by Napoleon and members of <a href=\"https:\/\/ohana.kapiolani.hawaii.edu\/authorized-governance-organizations\/kalaualani\/\"><span aria-label=\"Aha\">&#699;Aha<\/span> Kal&#257;ualani<\/a>, the college\u2019s Native Hawaiian Council.<\/p>\n<p>The final day of the cultural exchange saw both <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> <abbr>CC<\/abbr> and <abbr>NIC<\/abbr> share protocol, chants and dances.
