The Vulcans out-pointed five-time defending champion <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Pacific University (<abbr>HPU<\/abbr>) by a single point. <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Hilo accumulated 22 points during the year while <abbr>HPU<\/abbr> had 21. Chaminade finished third with 13.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;<abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Hilo is pleased to finally capture this title in our friendly competition between the island schools,&rdquo; Director of Athletics <strong>Patrick Guillen<\/strong> said. &ldquo;Our student-athletes, coaches and staff work very hard on- and off-the-court and field and behind the scenes that made this season possible. I am proud of our entire program and honored to finally win this title between friends.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Vulcans and Sharks both captured four first-place points but <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Hilo had the benefit of not having any of its teams finishing third in any of the nine sports which the competition comprises. Chaminade had one first-place finish (volleyball).<\/p>\n<p>The challenge resumed this academic term after taking 2020&#8211;21 off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The PacWest <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Challenge comprises nine sports in which all three of the state\u2019s Division <abbr title=\"Roman numeral two\">II<\/abbr> schools participate\u2014women\u2019s cross country, men&#8217;s and women\u2019s soccer, women\u2019s volleyball, men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball, women\u2019s tennis, men\u2019s golf and softball.
