The University of Hawaiʻi<\/span>–West Oʻahu<\/span> is the site of the First Annual Hawaiʻi<\/span> Sustainability in Higher Education Summit, April 11–12.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> System<\/a> is working with other higher education colleagues and the community to promote sustainability in higher education across the state. The 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> System is hosting the First Annual Hawaiʻi<\/span> Sustainability in Higher Education Summit<\/a>, April 11, 4 p.m.–8 p.m. and April 12, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. at the 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span><\/a> Ballroom. <\/p>\n

糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> campuses, Hawaiʻi<\/span> Pacific University, Brigham Young University–Hawaiʻi<\/span>, and the community will work together to create goals and implementation strategies for a 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> systemwide policy on sustainability.<\/p>\n

The policy will outline objectives toward improving environmental stewardship and cost-saving efforts through more efficient use of resources in areas such as energy, water and waste management, food systems and curriculum. <\/p>\n

“Sustainability is an increasingly important consideration in decision-making and planning on all levels of our institutions. We welcome the contributions and expertise of all segments of the university and the community-at-large, and acknowledge that there is much that we can learn from the wealth of scientific and cultural knowledge of Native Hawaiians,” said 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> President M.R.C. Greenwood<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Guest speakers include Leith Sharp, chair of the Sustainable Futures Academy and Harvard Sustainability instructor; Kamuela Enos, social enterprise director at MAʻO<\/span> Organic Farms; Matthew St. Clair, sustainability manager at the University of California Office of the President; and 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> President Greenwood.<\/p>\n
