\"Kapiolani<\/p>\n

Kapiʻolani<\/span> Community College<\/a> is hosting a free, fully online professional development opportunity for higher education and K–12 professionals, August 2–5. <\/p>\n

Subject matter experts and colleagues from Hawaiʻi<\/span> and beyond will present, interact and discuss topics such as “Stop AAPI<\/abbr> Hate & BLM<\/abbr>: Where are we at?,” “Utilizing Digital Tools for Student Engagement” and “I See You: Spice Up Your Course Materials with Avatars.” There are even 50-minute health and wellness sessions such as, “Hula: Lessons in Well-Being.”<\/p>\n

Last year, Kapiʻolani<\/span> CC<\/abbr> hosted 43 sessions and 291 participants in the inaugural Summer Camp<\/a>, who joined in for a Zoom-based week of learning and engagement. These amounted to a total attendance of 1,431. Organizers are hoping to make an even bigger splash this year with some summer professional development fun!<\/p>\n

Jamie Sickel<\/strong>, one of 11 ‘camp counselors’<\/a> or planning team members, said “Kapiʻolani<\/span> Summer Camp was borne out of a need for professional development and a strong desire to connect during a time of critical change and social distancing last summer, and it resulted in an amazing opportunity to learn from and alongside one another in a relevant, engaging and truly joyous way. We invite and encourage anyone and everyone interested to join us for as many sessions as you\u2019d like. It\u2019s free, it\u2019s scalable and it\u2019s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate learning!”<\/p>\n
