Amanda Tuttle<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A Maui teenager will “double graduate” from K\u012bhei Charter School<\/a> and the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> Maui College<\/a> in May. For the past two years, Amanda Tuttle<\/strong> has been taking a minimum of 14 college credits per semester while also completing her high school classes and projects.<\/p>\n

“My parents steered me towards STEM<\/abbr> when I was in middle school,” Tuttle said. “Since then, I\u2019ve been very interested, specifically, in robotics and engineering.”<\/p>\n

She joined an all-female VEX<\/abbr> Robotics<\/a> team (VEX<\/abbr> is a robotics program for students) and over the course of two years, built small robots for competitions with teams from across the country.<\/p>\n

“During that time, I focused on both the hardware and software sides of robotics,” Tuttle said. “And I found a genuine passion in the sport, itself.”<\/p>\n

According to the ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½<\/abbr> Maui College Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology Program<\/a> Coordinator Elisabeth Dubuit<\/strong>, Tuttle was an exemplary student.<\/p>\n

“I never heard her complain about the amount of work, or ask for extra time to turn in her assignments, or even come late to class,” Debuit said.<\/p>\n

After her “double graduation,” Tuttle plans to pursue a four-year engineering degree.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
