The honor goes to schools that have a team grade point average of 3.5 or higher.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;As disappointing as it was to have the season end, this is a great honor for our team,&rdquo; said Tamiya. &ldquo;In all of my time here, this is a first for us.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/hiloathletics.com\/documents\/2020\/7\/31\/\/2019_20_Team_Academic_Award_Winners_Announced.pdf?id=2824\">View the list of all outstanding team recipients<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Additional <abbr>GCAA<\/abbr> honors<\/h2>\n<p>Earlier this summer, two Vulcans were named to the <abbr>GCAA<\/abbr> Golf All-American Scholar list, awarded to top players with a combined low stroke average and a high <abbr title=\"Grade Point Average\">GPA<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Evan Merrier<\/strong>, who was honored as the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Hilo Male Scholar Athlete of the Year, is a junior who carries a 3.81 <abbr>GPA<\/abbr> in general business. Teammate <strong>Taylor Patrick<\/strong>, who will return for &ldquo;another&rdquo; senior season due to COVID-19, graduated with a 3.62 <abbr>GPA<\/abbr> in world history.
