An associate\u2019s degree from a <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Community College provides opportunities for different kinds of employment, advancement and more resiliency during tough times. An associate\u2019s degree also makes an average difference of $360,000 over a lifetime of living and working in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> compared to a high school diploma, according to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.p20hawaii.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/FinancialBenefits_糖心Vlog官方ERO_Final.pdf\">2016 <abbr>糖心Vlog官方ERO<\/abbr> report<\/a> (<span class=\"small-text\"><abbr title=\"Portable Document Format\">PDF<\/abbr><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>The K\u016blia Scholarship will support individuals who are striving to develop new skills or earn a degree. 500 scholarships for one free class (up to 3 credits) at any of the seven <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Community Colleges are available, including fees and required books (valued up to $500). The <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Community Colleges have a range of programs and have already been ranked as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2016\/08\/08\/uh-community-colleges-most-affordable-in-the-nation-hawaii-third-overall\/\">the most affordable community colleges in the nation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for a K\u016blia Scholarship, recipients must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> residents<\/li>\n<li>Not have attended <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> in the last two years<\/li>\n<li>Be furloughed or laid off from their full-time job due to COVID-19 impacts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Priority will be given to those who are pursuing their first degree or industry-recognized credential. Applications are due by August 10.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The past few months have been like no other time in history and we recognize the challenges that are facing our <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> residents,&rdquo; said <strong>Erika Lacro<\/strong>, vice president for the <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Community Colleges. &ldquo;As employment situations are changing, the K\u016blia Scholarship will help <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> residents choose education as they consider their options going forward. Also, financial aid, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2020\/02\/09\/hawaii-promise-testimonies\/\"><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Promise scholarship<\/a>, is always available to qualified students.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Community Colleges have also <a href=\"https:\/\/apply.hawaii.edu\/\">extended the deadline to apply for the fall 2020 semester<\/a> to August 10. Applications to any of the seven <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> community colleges across the state <a href=\"https:\/\/apply.hawaii.edu\/\">can be made online<\/a>.
