As part of the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> at M&#257;noa\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/speakers\/\">Better Tomorrow Speaker Series<\/a>, his public address &ldquo;Attention Hacking: How We\u2019ve Lost Control of Our Minds,&rdquo; will be held on Thursday, February 20, 6:30 p.m. in <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M&#257;noa\u2019s Art Auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>As a founder of net neutrality theory, Wu is one of the country\u2019s leading voices on the rise of big technology and its social and economic consequences. Wu\u2019s talk will discuss the deep impact big technology companies like Amazon, Facebook and Google have on the public, how those companies command people\u2019s attention in the modern world and the influence big technology has on decisions that people make.<\/p>\n<p>The public talk will feature remarks by State Supreme Court Justice Sabrina McKenna and <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> President <strong>David Lassner<\/strong>. The event is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. On-campus parking is available for $7.<\/p>\n<h2>More on Tim Wu<\/h2>\n<p>Wu is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, has been named twice on the <em>Politico 50<\/em> list and has been teaching at Columbia Law School since 2006, where he is currently the Julius Silver Professor of Law, Science and Technology. He is the author of <em>The Master Switch: The Rise and Fall of Information Empires<\/em>, <em>The Curse of Bigness: Antitrust in the New Gilded Age<\/em> and <em>The Attention Merchants: The Epic Scramble to Get Inside our Heads<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Wu\u2019s public talk is presented by <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M&#257;noa and the Better Tomorrow Speaker Series.
