Guest-edited by Lillian Howan and <strong>Angela Nishimoto<\/strong>, the issue features the work of 20 writers and artists on the theme &ldquo;Otherworld\/Underworld.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The featured works range from photography of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> to stories about the effects of Westernization, war, sea-level rise and artificial intelligence on society and individuals. Settings for this e-zine include <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>, Tonga, Singapore, dreamscapes and futuristic cities.<\/p>\n<p>The genres published include poetry, nonfiction and science, speculative and detective fiction. The e-zine also features all-women written essays that describe Pacific, Asian and American families and what happens when other worlds intrude on these carefully wrought structures.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> contributors include fiction writers <strong>Donald Carreira Ching<\/strong> (Leeward Community College English instructor), <strong>Jeffery Ryan Long<\/strong> (<abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa English doctoral candidate) and <strong>Zo\u00eb E. Sprott<\/strong> (<abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa English master\u2019s degree candidate). <strong>Jonathan Morse<\/strong>, retired <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa professor of English, also shares color photographs of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>. Other contributors include faculty and students from Lesley University in Massachusetts, University of California at Berkeley and Wichita State University.<\/p>\n<h2>About the editors<\/h2>\n<p>Guest editor Howan spent her early childhood in Tahiti and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. Her writings have been published in many literary journals and in the anthology <em>Ms. Aligned 2: Women Writing About Men<\/em> and <em>Under Western Eyes<\/em>. She is the editor of <em>Rosebud and Other Stories<\/em> (<abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Press, 2011), a collection by late playwright Wakako Yamauchi and the author of <em>The Charm Buyers<\/em> (<abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> Press, 2017).<\/p>\n<p>Guest editor Nishimoto holds an <abbr title=\"Master of Science\">MS<\/abbr> degree in botany from <abbr>糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa. She was raised on the windward side of <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> and teaches at Leeward <abbr title=\"Community College\">CC<\/abbr>. Her short fiction and poetry have appeared in many <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> and mainland journals and in the anthology <em>Ms. Aligned 2: Women Writing About Men<\/em>. She is completing her first novel, <em>Isabella\u2019s Daughter<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Editor <strong>Pat Matsueda<\/strong> is the founder of <em>Vice-Versa<\/em> and the managing editor of <em>M\u0101noa: A Pacific Journal of International Writing<\/em>.
