Journalist David Wallace-Wells is one of the featured speakers in the Better Tomorrow Speaker Series<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at M\u0101noa\u2019s 2019–2020 lineup for its Better Tomorrow Speaker Series<\/a> features best-selling authors, tech policy analysts, experts on anti-poverty programs and one of 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr>\u2019s own distinguished ocean ecologists. The series\u2019 first talk with Big Hunger<\/em> author and food security and justice advocate Andy Fisher will be held Thursday, September 12. <\/p>\n

The Better Tomorrow Speaker Series brings renowned, incisive experts to the islands and aims to showcase innovative solutions to the critical challenges of today. Speakers will address topics in a range of disciplines, from astronomy to economic opportunity to technology policy. New York<\/em> magazine deputy editor and journalist David Wallace-Wells, who writes extensively on the global climate crisis, will give a public talk on January 14, 2020. <\/p>\n

The series hosts large events that are free and open to the public, as well as smaller forums with community leaders, business executives, elected officials, scholars and students. <\/p>\n

Better Tomorrow Speaker Series supporters<\/h2>\n

The Hawaiʻi<\/span> Community Foundation<\/a> (HCF<\/abbr>) awarded $50,000 to support the series and will serve as 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr>\u2019s principal partner for the coming academic year. HCF<\/abbr> is the leading philanthropic institution in the state and a resource on community issues and trends in the nonprofit sector. The Foundation\u2019s new CHANGE<\/abbr> Framework aims to create a movement towards building a Hawaiʻi<\/span> where every person has the opportunity to thrive. <\/p>\n

Vital community support for the series has also come from Kamehameha Schools and the Scholars Strategy Network. <\/p>\n

The series is managed by the 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Office of the Provost with support from various 糖心Vlog官方<\/abbr> units, including the College of Social Sciences<\/a>, William S.
