University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa men’s swimmer Karol Ostrowski set two new program records at the 2026 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships at Georgia Tech’s McAuley Aquatic Center.

Ostrowski shattered the Rainbow Warrior record in the 100-yard backstroke with a blazing time of 45.96 seconds on March 27, winning the first heat and finishing 39th overall. The mark eclipses his previous personal best of 47.06 seconds, set at last season’s Big West Championships.

On March 28, Ostrowski had another record-setting performance in the 100 meter freestyle with a swift time of 42.08, which resulted in a Heat 1 victory and 30th overall finish in the preliminaries. He improved his previous best time of 42.31鈥攕et at last year’s NCAA Championships鈥攁nd teammate Finn Brophy’s former record of 42.26.

Ostrowski concludes his collegiate career now holding four individual school records in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, and 100 backstroke鈥攖he most in program history. He is one of the Rainbow Warriors’ most decorated swimmers of all-time.

Also representing 糖心Vlog官方 M膩noa at the NCAA Championships were Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo and Tom Thalau.

Tamayo capped his outstanding season in the 3-meter dive, where he finished 43rd with a preliminary score of 296.10. His top dive of the day鈥攁 forward 3 陆 somersault鈥攅arned a score of 65.10.

Thalau made his NCAA Division I Championships debut, placing 32nd in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:45.38. His qualifying time of 1:43.93 and his NCAA performance stand as the two fastest marks in the Big West this season.

The University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa delivered a dominant showing at the Big West Championships, sweeping the men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 team titles and capturing eight major conference awards, announced by the league on February 20.

Coach of the Year

In his second season leading the program, Head Coach Steve Allnutt was named both Big West Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Coach of the Year after guiding the Rainbow Warriors and Wahine to conference crowns. The men scored 780 points with 22 podium finishes, including 12 gold medals, while the women scored 798 points with 20 medal performances and six event victories. The sweep marked the fourth time in program history that both teams claimed conference titles in the same season.

Allnutt also coached three swimmers to NCAA automatic qualifying standards and oversaw three Big West record-breaking swims. His dual honor is the 12th overall coaching award in program history and the fourth time a Hawaiʻi coach has earned Coach of the Year for both squads in the same season.

Men鈥檚 Swimmer of the Year

Leading the way in swimming was Karol Ostrowski, who was named Big West Men鈥檚 Swimmer of the Year for the first time. Ostrowski recorded seven podium finishes, winning six gold medals. He posted NCAA automatic qualifying times in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 back, breaking his own conference record in the 100 free. He becomes Hawaiʻi鈥檚 first conference swimmer of the year since 2020.

Diving Coach of the Year

Diving coach Brandon Blaisdell also swept the Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Diving Coach of the Year awards for the second straight season. Under his direction, Rainbow divers swept the diving competition at the championships, combining for five gold, four silver and five bronze medals, along with three conference records.

Women鈥檚 Diver of the Year

Macie Wheeler successfully defended her Women鈥檚 Diver of the Year title, winning the 1-meter and 3-meter events and setting a Big West record in the 1-meter. Freshmen Keira Chandler and Oliver Wignall claimed the conference鈥檚 Freshman Diver of the Year honors on the women鈥檚 and men鈥檚 sides, respectively.

Overall, the team placed 27 student-athletes on the All-Big West team for a combined 69 all-conference honors. The Rainbow Warriors accounted for 12 selections and 37 honors, while the Rainbow Wahine added 15 members and 32 honors, capping a historic championship performance for the program.

The University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swept the Big West Championships on February 14, in Houston, Texas.

The Rainbow Warriors entered the day with a slim 25-point lead after re-taking first place on February 13. The ‘Bows continued to hold their lead throughout the day, but the championship hinged on the final event of the meet鈥攖he 400 freestyle relay where 糖心Vlog官方 M膩noa held off Grand Canyon by less than 3/100th of a second to clinch the title. Overall, the Rainbow Warriors amassed 780 points and held off Grand Canyon by 62 points for the championship crown.

The Rainbow Wahine entered the final day with a 110-point lead, and finished with 798 points, more than 100 ahead of their closest opponent, UC Davis.

These are the first conference crowns under second-year head coach and 糖心Vlog官方 M膩noa alumnus Steve Allnutt, who was a member of the 2011 Conference USA title team. For the women, this marks their 11th conference crown overall, while the men have won eight conference titles.

The University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were named Scholar All-America Teams for the fall 2025 semester by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

To qualify, teams were required to hold a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher. The Rainbow Wahine’s 24 student-athletes posted a cumulative GPA of 3.66, while the Rainbow Warriors maintained a cumulative average of 3.00 among 28 student-athletes.

“The academic commitment demonstrated by these teams is exceptional,” said Samantha Barany, executive director of the CSCAA. “These student-athletes continue to set a standard for excellence by succeeding at the highest level both in the pool and in the classroom, and the CSCAA is proud to recognize their dedication and achievement.”

The University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa swimming teams swept the Big West Athlete of the Week awards for the second consecutive week. Karol Ostrowski was named the winner of the men’s award, while Holly Nelson earned the women’s weekly award.

This marked Ostrowski鈥檚 second career weekly conference award and the third for the Warriors this season. For the Rainbow Wahine, Nelson earned her second Athlete of the Week award this season and the third for the 驶Bows in the 2025鈥26 season.

糖心Vlog官方 M膩noa faced BYU in a dual meet on January 3. Ostrowski led the Rainbow Warriors, winning golds in all four events he entered: the 50 free, the 50 back, the 50 fly with a personal best time of 20.91 and a split of 43.68 in the 400 free relay to give the 驶Bows a solid lead.

Nelson captured three individual golds in the 50 fly, 100 free and 50 free while earning a silver swimming the anchor lead of the 400 free relay. Her 50 fly time of 24.07 is the fastest time swam in the Big West this year.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa swimmers Tim Brown and Quincy Key both earned their first Big West Athlete of the Week awards on December 30 after strong performances at the 驶Bows dual meet against Utah in Salt Lake City.

Brown won gold in the 50 freestyle, hitting the wall with an impressive time of 20.76. The senior also helped the Rainbow Warriors clinch silver in both the 200 medley and the 200 free relay. Brown anchored the 200 medley with a 20.09 split and swam the second leg of the 200 free relay in a split time of 19.87, recording the fastest split of the competition in both relays.

Key helped to lead the Rainbow Wahine to a pair of relay victories while finishing third in the 50 free with a time of 23.82 against the Utes. Key swam the fastest split of the meet with a time of 22.93 as she anchored the 200 medley relay, and swam the second leg of the 200 free relay with a split of 23.21.

The 糖心Vlog官方 M膩noa swimming and diving teams wrap up their home schedule with a pair of dual meets at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex. The 鈥楤ows will take on BYU on January 3 and then will host Pacific Lutheran on 糖心Vlog官方 惭腻苍辞补’蝉 senior night on January 5.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa women’s swimmer Holly Nelson was named Big West Athlete of the Week following a pair of outstanding performances against Grand Canyon University. The honor marks Nelson’s first career weekly award.

Nelson led the Rainbow Wahine with eight podium finishes, including six wins and a team-high 34 points across the two dual meets.

In the October 24 home opener, Nelson earned three victories and one bronze. She helped the 鈥楤ows achieve a 140-84 win and led the team with 12 points. Nelson contributed to victories in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay, while also taking first in the 100 free and third in the 50 free.

Nelson raised the bar even higher during the October 25 rematch against the Lopes, posting a meet-high 22 points with three more wins and one runner-up finish. She helped set two Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex records, winning the 50 free by breaking the record set just the day before, and anchoring 糖心Vlog官方 M膩noa鈥檚 200 free relay (1:30.92) with a 21.94 split, surpassing the previous record of 1:31.74 set in 2000.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa Mario Surkovic was named the Big West Men鈥檚 Athlete of the Week following an outstanding performance to open the season at the Triton Invitational in California.

The senior had five top-five finishes, including two victories, helping the Rainbow Warriors secure a second-place team finish in the men鈥檚 standings. This marks Surkovic鈥檚 fourth career weekly honor and his first from the Big West.

He led the way with a gold medal in the 200 IM (1:47.44), 糖心Vlog官方鈥檚 first individual win of the season, and added a bronze in the 100 free (43.52) and a fourth-place finish in the 100 breast (54.65).

In relay action, he helped the Rainbow Warriors capture first place in the 200 free relay with 19.19 split on the third leg, and contributed to a bronze finish in the 200 medley relay with a 50 breast split of 23.98.

糖心Vlog官方 will return to competition for dual meets against Grand Canyon University, set for Oct. 24–25 at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex. The event will also mark the season debut for the Rainbow Wahine and Rainbow Warrior dive teams.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa men’s swimmer Karol Ostrowski will represent Poland at the World Aquatics Championships on July 26 and 27, in Singapore. Ostrowski is set to make his World Championships debut, competing as part of Poland’s 4×100 meter freestyle relay team.

Ostrowski set records in this year’s NCAA Championships, Big West Championships and SMU Invitational.

He previously represented Poland on the international stage, including appearances at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, the 2022 European Championships, the FINA World Cup and the FINA World Swimming Championships.

The University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa was one of 763 teams to be named to the Scholar All-America team for the Spring 2025 semester on July 3. Additionally, four Rainbow Wahine and two Rainbow Warriors received individual CSCAA Spring Team Scholar All-America honors.

The 29 student-athletes achieved a team GPA of 3.43. To qualify, teams were required to achieve a GPA of 3.00 or higher during the spring 2025 semester.

“These teams exemplify what it means to be true student-athletes,” said Samantha Barany, executive director of the CSCAA. “Their dedication to academic excellence, alongside their athletic commitments, is both impressive and inspiring. The CSCAA is proud to recognize and celebrate their hard work and achievement.”

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa swimmer Milan Bukovics was named to the Academic All-America third team for the first time in his career.

His selection gives the 糖心Vlog官方 M膩noa men鈥檚 back-to-back Academic All-America honorees, following Justin Lisoway’s Academic All-America third team recognition in 2024.

Bukovics is a decorated student-athlete who earned multiple academic awards throughout his career, including College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors in 2023 and 2024, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic honors in 2022 and 2023 and Academic All-Big West honors in 2024.

Bukovics volunteers for 糖心Vlog官方 惭腻苍辞补’蝉 as an avionics lead and also serves as a leader for the .

In the pool, the senior garnered Big West Athlete of the Week honors in October 2024, after stellar performances in two dual meets against Grand Canyon. Bukovics won the 100 butterfly (47.95) and 100 IM (49.72) in the first meet, followed by a victory in 200 IM (1:49.63) on the final day of competition between the teams.

At the Big West Championships, Bukovics placed fourth in the 400 IM with a time of 3:51.37. He also earned 12 podium finishes during the regular season, including seven golds.

All-America teams selected by the CSC.

To qualify for the Academic All-America teams, student-athletes must have earned Academic All-District honors, be at least a sophomore, maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average and compete in five competitions or finish top-eight at a conference meet.

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa鈥檚 Arianna Sakellaris became the first ever to earn College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America honors. Sakellaris was voted to the third team.

Sakellaris is a graduate student majoring in clinical research. She is one of just 30 women’s swim and dive athletes to be named to the NCAA
Division I Academic All-America teams selected by the CSC.

She was also one of four Rainbow Wahine to earn CSC Academic All-District honors and was named to the Academic All-Big West team. Outside of school, Sakellaris participated in the Women Speaking Out event at the Swing Fore Love Charity Golf Invitational earlier this year.

At the Big West Championship, Sakellaris helped set a new Big West record and earned gold as a member of the 400 free relay team with a time of 3:20.04, and an individual split of 50.61. She also claimed bronze as a part of the 800 free relay squad while posting a split of 1:49.89.

To qualify for the Academic All-America teams, student-athletes must have earned Academic All-District honors, be at least a sophomore, maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average, and compete in five competitions or finish top-eight at a conference meet.

Twenty-four University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa student-athletes in the winter season—basketball, swimming and diving—earned places on the 2024–25 Big West Winter Academic All-Conference teams announced on April 14.

Five members of the University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa swim and dive teams were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team for their achievements both in the classroom and the pool.

Four members of the and one member of the earned a spot on the NCAA Division I Academic All-District team. The Rainbow Wahine were represented by *Catherine Belyakov, Nellie Thompson, *Arianna Sakellaris and *Holly Nelson, while the Rainbow Warriors were represented by *Milan Bukovics.

To qualify for the Academic All-District teams, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and compete in five competitions or finish top-eight at a conference meet.

Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists are denoted with an *asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on April 22 (women) and April 23 (men).

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Karol Ostrowski is the lone male swimmer from The Big West to qualify in the upcoming NCAA Division I Championships. Ostrowski will compete in the 50m freestyle on March 27, in Washington State.

This marks his second consecutive NCAA appearance. Last year, he set a 糖心Vlog官方 school record with an 18.89 in the 50m freestyle, contributing to a record-breaking 200m freestyle relay time of 1:16:23. Ostrowski qualified for the 2025 NCAA Championships after breaking the 糖心Vlog官方 50m freestyle record with a time of 18.99 at the SMU Invitational, earning Big West Athlete of the Week honors.

The senior earned seven All-Big West awards, with honors in multiple events, and won four gold medals at the 2025 Big West Championships. Ostrowski helped break four 糖心Vlog官方 and Big West records, including in the 200m medley relay, 200m freestyle relay, 100m freestyle, and 400m freestyle relay.

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa swim and dive teams earned seven Big West awards, including a sweep of the diving awards for a second consecutive season after dominant performances at the Big West Championships.

Macie Wheeler was named Big West Women’s Diver of the Year and Freshman Diver of the Year after winning gold in all three diving events. Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo earned the same honors on the men’s side, securing titles in the 1-meter and platform dives, along with a silver in the 3-meter.

Adam Zdybel was named Men’s Co-Freshman Swimmer of the Year, earning podium finishes in the 800 free relay and 200 free.

Coach Brandon Blaisdell was named Big West Men’s Diving Coach of the Year and Co-Women鈥檚 Diving Coach of the Year after leading 糖心Vlog官方 to gold in every diving event.

糖心Vlog官方 totaled 24 All-Big West honorees, with Karol Ostrowski earning a team-high seven selections. Wheeler and Ramirez Tamayo will compete in the NCAA Division I Zone E qualifiers in March.

糖心Vlog官方 continued its dominance with 67 total honors—34 for the men鈥檚 team and 33 for the women鈥檚. The 鈥楤ows look ahead to NCAA qualifiers with momentum from their Big West sweep.

The University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa was named a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team for the fall 2024 semester. 糖心Vlog官方 was one of four Big West teams to earn the honor.

The Rainbow Wahine鈥檚 30 student-athletes tallied a team GPA of 3.39 this past fall. To earn this recognition, teams were required to achieve a grade point average above 3.0 during the fall 2024 semester. Since the Rainbow Wahine had a GPA of over 3.30, the team also qualified for the Intercollegiate Coach Association Coalition All-Sport Academic Standings.

“This recognition honors programs that achieve the highest standards in the classroom while representing their institution in the pool.” says Samantha Barany, CSCAA executive director. “Coach Steve Allnutt, their staff, and the entire team have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to success both academically and athletically, setting a standard of excellence we can all be proud of.”

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa swimmers Catherine Belyakov and Karol Ostrowski earned Big West Athlete of the Week honors after performances at the Southern Methodist University Invitational in Dallas, Texas. Belyakov now has three Big West weekly awards of the year, while this is Ostrowski’s first career Big West weekly honor.

Belyakov won the 200 individual medley, recording the second-fastest mark in 糖心Vlog官方 history at 1:57.82. In the 400 individual medley prelims, Belyakov continued to climb the record books posting a time of 4:17.74, which ranks fourth in Rainbow Wahine history. In her first season at 糖心Vlog官方, Belyakov now holds top-10 times in four different events (100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, 200 individual medley and 400 individual medley).

Belyakov swam the anchor leg for the Rainbow Wahine 200 freestyle A team that placed second. Belyakov was also a part of the 400 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay A teams that both placed third in their respective events.

Karol Ostrowski

Ostrowski set a school record in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:34.36, breaking the previous record. The speedy senior secured a victory in the 50 freestyle, and in the process, broke the pool record at the Roberson and Lindley Aquatics Center recording a mark of 18.99. Ostrowski closed out the weekend in individual competition with a runner-up finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 42.58.

Ostrowski was also the lead-off swimmer for both the 400 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay A teams that finished in third and fourth place respectively.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa swimmers Catherine Belyakov and Milan Bukovics swept this week鈥檚 Big West Athlete of the Week awards after standout performances in the October 25–26, 糖心Vlog官方-Grand Canyon University Dual Meet at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex. For Belyakov, it is her second Big West weekly award this year, while for Bukovics it marks his second conference weekly honor of his career.

Belyakov won all four individual events she competed in while continuing to elevate herself in the 糖心Vlog官方 record books. She won the 100 breaststroke with the fifth fastest time in Rainbow Wahine history coming in at 1:01.20. She then claimed first place in the 100 freestyle touching the wall at 49.07 to tie for sixth-fastest in 糖心Vlog官方 history. She closed her first day by winning the 100 individual medley with a time of 54.61. She wrapped up her weekend by winning the 200 IM with the second-fastest time in 糖心Vlog官方 history at 1:58.67.

Bukovics was the top 糖心Vlog官方 finisher in his four races as well, finishing in second in the 100 backstroke while capturing first place in three events. On October 25, Bukovics won the 100 butterfly with a mark of 47.95 followed by the 100 individual medley with a time of 49.72. On October 26, he won his third event, pulling away to take the 200 IM with a time of 1:49.63.

Senior Catherine Belyakov, from the University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa , claimed Big West Athlete of the Week honors after her outstanding performance at the USC Invitational, October 12–13.

Belyakov made an immediate impact with the Rainbow Wahine, earning multiple top-10 times in program history. Belyakov posted the fourth-fastest time and finished in second in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:17.97, and swam the sixth fastest time in the 200 IM with a mark of 2:00.78 finishing in third.

She also earned 糖心Vlog官方鈥檚 first victory in individual competition this season, winning the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 1:02.17. In total, Belyakov earned top-three finishes in four individual events this past weekend.
