WHAT:

The University of Hawaiﾊｻi at Mﾄ］oa Athletics Department brought the NCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship trophy across the ﾌﾇﾐﾄVlogｹﾙｷｽ Mﾄ］oa campus as a thank-you to students, faculty and staff for their support throughout the championship season.

The ﾌﾇﾐﾄVlogｹﾙｷｽ Mﾄ］oa men’s volleyball team captured its third NCAA National Championship on May 11, defeating UC Irvine to bring another title home to Hawaiﾊｻi.

Bachman Hall and Hawaiﾊｻi Hall at the ﾌﾇﾐﾄVlogｹﾙｷｽ Mﾄ］oa campus

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

  • ﾌﾇﾐﾄVlogｹﾙｷｽs to ﾌﾇﾐﾄVlogｹﾙｷｽ West Oﾊｻahu and all Oﾊｻahu community college campuses are currently being planned.
  • The Athletics Department is also planning to make stops with the trophy on Hawaiﾊｻi Island, Kauaﾊｻi and Maui later this year.
  • The tour is called the Our Team, Hawai‘i’s Team Trophy Tour.
  • The championship trophy tour will give the ﾌﾇﾐﾄVlogｹﾙｷｽ community an opportunity to celebrate the Rainbow Warriors’ historic season while thanking students, faculty and staff for their support throughout the team’s championship run.

Yeah, totally a lot of, a lot of ﾌﾇﾐﾄVlogｹﾙｷｽ pride, you know, my dad went to school here too, and so like basically my whole life I've been watching games from back when even Dave Shoji was coach and seeing, the men's team rise up and be really successful in their program too, it's been really, really nice.”
