CTAHR CARES staff took state House members on a tour of the upcountry station.

Strengthening the vital partnership between the Hawaiʻi State Legislature and the University of Hawaiʻi, the House Higher Education Committee visited 糖心Vlog官方 Maui College and 糖心Vlog官方 Kauaʻi Community College, and toured the ’s (CTAHR) Agricultural Research and Extension Stations (CARES).

Legislators with the committee and House Representatives from Maui and Kauaʻi were able to gain a deeper understanding of the institutions’ critical work through their visit.

On Maui, the legislators learned about 4-H and Master Gardener programs and explored the 25-acre CARES facility in Kula. The protea field plots and seed production in greenhouses showcased the CTAHR’s innovative agricultural research and its commitment to diversifying the state’s economy.

Next, the legislators visited part of the 201-acre 糖心Vlog官方 Kauaʻi CARES Center in Wailua, illustrating the breadth of CTAHR’s research with Pacific crops, organic crops, livestock production and community engagement.

The Higher Education Committee members will continue visiting other 糖心Vlog官方 campuses over the next few months. These visits highlight the pivotal role of 糖心Vlog官方 in addressing local challenges, driving innovation, and preparing students for successful futures.
