Graphic of a person overwhelmed by social media

This week¡¯s ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ News Image of the Week is from ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹’s Melissa Takahashi an undergraduate in psychology and sociology.

Takahashi shared, “‘Disconnection in the Age of Hyperconnection’ I drew this digital artwork for my final creative project in SOC341. The visual language of the piece—its claustrophobic composition, red color palette, and suggestion of being ‘plugged in’ by the overhead wiring—reflects overstimulation, commodified connection, and a deep sense of emotional detachment. Through this work, I wanted to express how digital platforms can foster loneliness despite the appearance of constant connectivity.”
