ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ women's tennis player

The University of Hawaiʻi at ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ team defeated San Jose State University (SJSU), 4-3 on January 19 at the ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ Tennis Complex. SJSU captured the doubles point to start the day, but the Rainbow Wahine rallied, recording four singles victories with Madison Kim clinching the match on the No. 5 court.

In doubles, the Rainbow Wahine No. 3 duo of Alexis Merrill and Kim started with a 6-1 win. SJSU¡¯²õ No. 2 pairing held off ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½, 6-3 to even things up. The doubles point was decided on the No. 1 court as SJSU squeaked past ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ in a tie-breaker, 7-6 (0) to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The Rainbow Wahine quickly turned things around with a 2-1 match lead as Klara Novacova led the singles matches with a sweep over SJSU‘s Raquel Pereira, 6-2, 6-3, while ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½¡¯²õ Satsuki Takamura took down SJSU¡¯²õ Irena Muradyan, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. SJSU then evened the match at 2-2 with a 7-6 (5), 6-1 win on the No. 6 court. The Rainbow Wahine followed by winning the next two matches as Ana Vilcek defeated Perero Galindo by a break in both sets, 6-4, 6-4, and Kim finally clinched the match in three tough sets, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.

ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ will return to the courts on January 20 as they take on the University of Washington. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ Tennis Complex.
